2020 NEXT GENERATION 992 SPY PICS & RELEASE
#511
Yes, it was confirmed by several sources that Porsche dropped the hybrid plans for the 911 all together. However, those same sources are also stating the next gen will all be turbo, including the GT3/GT3 RS.
I personally believe Porsche has no choice but to go turbo with the 992 GT3 if they want to keep up with where the competition will most likely be by then. Not to mention, by the time the 992 Carrera's hit the road, the gap in power between the Carrera and the current GT3 will become even more narrow. I just don't know how much more power Porsche can squeeze out of the NA platform reliably.
^ If the above does happen, the current 991 GT3's will most likely skyrocket in value.

^ There will definitely by those that will pay more for them since they are the last generation to have NA motors but right now, there are still too many cars in existence to warrant any sort of major appreciation.
I'm in no rush to get rid of my 991.1S but I may look at picking up a lightly used 991 GT3 in the next few years.
I'm still excited to see how the 992 turns out. I wasn't a huge fan of the 991.2 FI platform but I have faith Porsche will take some of the criticism they received and tweak things in the 992.

Agree with many others here....
Not liking the 718 squared off bumper, hoping it won't make it, but fear it will.
Spoiler down nice, spoiler up, not so nice. Will have to see it with full tail lights, but at first glance just looks too large/awkward for the car.
I don't see why they just can't put a juiced up NA 4.0L or even a bit larger in the next GT3. Knowing Porshce, they can find the HP they need. But as once said, all good things come to an end and turbos for the next GT3 may be true. I'm sure Porsche will create a great one, but still sad to see.
No hybrid 911 - good.

AP has already said the GT cars will remain NA.

AP also says alot of things that are not true, or at least turn out not to be true.
Because AP is fluent, and I mean really fluent, in marketingspeak.

and when AP inevitably moves on within the VW Group for his next salary boosting career-advancing assignment , the " outrage " from the faithful/hopeful on sites like RL of the future forced-induction only GT3 / RS will simply be responded to , if at all , with " AP was a great leader but we are going in a new direction " from his succesors and concurrent marketing redirecting to the next gen cars' sub 7 minute Nurburgring times " impossible with NA while meeting current/ coming emissions standards ...blah blah " ...mark my words !

Interesting to note on the exterior- it appears that the fenders are now similar to the shape of the 993, in that they extend past the headlight and meet the edge of the frunk. The front bumper is now much smaller as a result. Looks cool!

That looks sleek, but not sure if I want that in my sports car. A MT will look out of place for sure.
