My $ is on something around fuel variabilities since it’s always when you are away. Buy Chevron Techron fuel system cleaner, Amsoil PI, or Redline SI-1 fuel cleaner - they are all 3 loaded with PEA which will clean up anything on the injectors or pistons and can resolve some of these balance issues. Otherwise it may be failing injector wiring harness as these cars have seen over the years
More 911’s are sold in California than anywhere else. They run fine on the fuel here otherwise there would be consistent problems across the board. I’m not saying the problem here isn’t fuel system related, but it’s not a problem caused by running 91 octane fuel vs. 93, it could be wiring harness or other issue with the system. I doubt running any of those cleaners will accomplish anything other than help make your wallet a little lighter.
