Default Comfort access

C4S Feb ‘26 build, the comfort access is temperamental at best. It works just often enough to let me know it’s not a setting issue and the frunk is very hit and miss.

is this a known problem of the car? Is there anything the dealer can do?

How intermittent are we talking about? If I'm just hanging out by the car it'll get royally confused from locking and unlocking but no one opening the doors. The frunk is like 98% good for me, i think I've had one time where it didn't open on the first try, but i was also hanging out by the car a lot right before that.

I have turned off the “unlock when approaching” feature so it’ll only unlock when I touch the handle. I’d say 50% of the time.

the frunk mostly doesn’t work, I’ve read the manual and was shown “the swipe” when I took delivery of the car so I think I’m doing it right. Plus it does occasionally work.

I don’t have any problems with Comfort Access in my 992.2 GTS.

If I pull up my on-line manual, then search on “Comfort Access”, I can read about how this feature works.
From my understanding Comfort Access (CA) is set up in the PCM profile and the CA settings are stored on the physical car key.
It appears one can disable CA using the door handle or by pressing and holding two buttons on the key fob until the key fob Porsche crest blinks.

Questions:
1. Are you always using the same physical key fob?
2. What specific CA problems are you having? Are you saying that when CA is enabled, the auto-unlock feature (when you walk up to the car with the key fob) doesn’t always work?
3. Regarding frunk access, are you saying the hand swipe doesn’t always work?

One feature I think is weird relates to locking the car upon vehicle exit. To my knowledge (and based on the owner’s manual), there is no automatic locking feature when you walk away from the car; you have to use the key fob.

yes I’m always using the same fob. So I’ve set it to unlock when I pull on the handle, not when approaching, this doesn’t work a lot of the time.

same story with the hand swipe on the frunk, mostly doesn’t work, occasionally does.

funnily enough locking the car, but pushing the indent on the door handle, works pretty consistently

Unlock when using the handle has been a temperamental thing on 992's since they were released; some folks find it works reliably while others have problems. Me, I'm 1/2 way between - works 95% first time but occasionally it takes a 2nd or even 3rd attempt.

The frunk though is very much a technique thing; you'll see a variety of methods mentioned here / on YouTube etc. For me it's either a vertical swipe from the front of the frunk to the front of the car about 1/2" (12-15mm) above the panel or the same thing sideways. Works 99.9% first time.

I’ll try the vertical swipe, thanks. I’ve been doing a horizontal swipe in line with the badge on the bumper.

The frunk swipe worked great on my 991.2, never had a problem. It's the opposite on my 992.2, only worked once or twice no matter what I did.

unless the changed it for .2 version I believe the horizontal sweep is below the crest. Try it on the nose of the car, not the frunk lid.

So I spoke to my sales guy for advise and he said to bring the car in. They changed the remote batteries and did some kind of programming/upgrade. All I know is it seems to work now.

If I go a week or so away from the car, it no longer recognizes me when I approach and i have to use the remote to wake it up. The frunk only opens when I'm washing the car.

with comfort access the car will auto-lock after a short period of time if you (and the key) are at a distance

Which year and model do you have? I have never witnessed anything other than the handles retracting.

2024 992 T. The auto-lock retracts the handles and chirps/flashes confirm the locking function.
