After driving for a while i usually put my left leg / knee up a bit rather than fully extended, that makes my knee rest on the hard plastic door handle area, does anyone make anything that goes around that handle to provide some cushion, i think i may have to make something myself but my knee area always hard after resting against that hard piece on the left when driving.

Maybe I can help.
I have run into this exact same problem in other cars.
So I can empathize with the conundrum the OP finds himself dealing with..
Ex: After Turn six (Willow Springs) one needs to get comfortable before you get to turn eight. This can take what feels like forever.
So I've found that using roll bar padding (see below) helps with this ergonomic challenge. Red arrow for easy identification.
