In stock? Sure - you pay for the availability. The dealer has the car right there and ready to drive away today.
An allocation lets the dealer collect a deposit and have a near- guaranteed sale...but you have to wait for it to be built.

Nice...which Porsche dealership did you go to? How much discount and how long did you have to wait for an allocation?

I’m in western Canada. My SA had been talking to me about a 911 purchase since last summer and I test drove a 992.2 GTS (rwd) but found it too loud inside so shelved the idea. Then later I thought that perhaps the 911 GTS was similar to my Cayenne GTS which also has the sound insulation in the rear removed, so I went back at the start of March and drove a 4S model which was quieter. We agreed on a price and he traded for an allocation a day later and my production is supposed to start next week according to TYD.

As to the discount, I did see a used C2 (warranty punched, but no miles) nicely equipped at a good price at another western dealership but despite my dealer not discounting as much on a new unit, I stuck with my home dealer. For me, I like a good deal, but the price you pay for your car isn’t just the amount on the cheque. The relationship with your home dealer is worth something as well.

Took delivery last month of a new Carrera T Cab that i was able to spec out to my exact taste. Got luck, ordered in January and took delivery March 23 on my Birthday. 3 percent off MSRP which I thought was very reasonable got a 2020 C4S built to order just before Covid for 10 percent off.Times have changed.

The western (Canada) dealer that had the 2025 C2 with no miles was offering 8.5% off. It was a bit of an odd spec in that it was rwd (many Canadian cars are spec'd awd) and it was missing Sport Chrono. My dealer said they would never be able to match that on a new order so we agreed on a price and I ordered from my home dealer. it is my 3rd Porsche from the same dealer since 2017. I know that is no big deal, they have many customers that seem to buy a new 911 every year or so.

What’s the market light for a Carrera S order right now? Anecdotally, I’d inquired about a CPO at a dealership and last week they called me offering me 10,000 off of an in stock unit. I’m guessing that was an outlier. At the time I wasn’t thinking about new, but now I’m starting to think maybe I’ll order. Is it reasonable to get a few percent off or should I just plan on MSRP?

In the U.S., I would expect to pay MSRP for a Carrera S allocation, but you can always try to get a discount. It really depends on whether the dealer feels they can easily sell an allocation at MSRP or not. Allocations are “use it or lose it”, and dealers would prefer the allocation be used for a customer configured car versus a dealer specified car which they have to sell after it arrives.

Negative. Dealers are more motivated to sell in-stock cars because they’ve already paid PCNA for them and now that cash is tied up in inventory. With a customer order the time between payment to PCNA and cash from the customer is much shorter and carries a much higher probability of occurrence. Well run businesses will give up a little bit of margin in exchange for improved cash flow.

I think you can pretty much get MSRP for all 911 models beside GTs (like the recent price increase is insane, don't spoil the dealers)

Discount probably hard, unless the dealership is doing really bad

Ha, I very likely know the dealership you visited. I've given them a shot at each of the 5 pcars purchased. Their clientele just writes big checks.

Are you sure about that? North American car dealerships get some floor inventory money to float part of their inventory while they sell them through. I'm not sure how many free days they get or whether VAG does the same with Porsche/Audi.

Evden "Youtube" Rick from Greenwich said he would sell a GTS at sticker in one of his latest video's and check some of the comments......so things do change, GT3 at that place prob 50-75 ADM.

Here is a bigger question, you order the car from the dealer, he does not mention any ADM....you go in to pick up your 911...and they say ADM unless you buy ceramic etc...happen to anyone?

Years ago, I got pulled over late at night in a new BMW. I think they were going to charge me with vagrancy.
True story, walking on Greenwich avenue two weeks ago I found a hundred dollar bill. I spent it all that day!
