If Audi follows suit to the AMGs it's all over. Mercedes neutered the AMG GLC by getting rid of the Biturbo and so anything after the 2024 or 2025 refresh with the Inline 4 has no sound. If the new RS6 is some sort of new hybrid with more HP and performance in a more enviro friendly engine, the wagon will be quick but that's it. Part of the allure is the sound.
Trading in a near new Targa GTS for a station wagon?
Also would be downsizing the number of cars. Getting rid of the Targa for what I paid or close to it might be a good move right now for me...I have 1 kid who just started driving, another who will drive in a year and a half so insurance premiums are going through the roof, parking spaces are going to be at a premium at the house. College bills start in a few years etc.
Do share what trade in you get.
I was about to do a trade for my car which isnt a targa gts but still desirable enough. And the depreciation which I expected to be 5-10% was closer to 18-20%.
its a 2024.
I checked 3 dealers and all three landed within 5k of each other.

Im getting the original MSRP for the car....I did not pay any ADM so pretty good I think to drive the car for two and a half years for the cost of PPF.

thats great.
my MSRP WAS 173. I paid 165. And my recent trade in value was 136. Just shows the difference in value between a targa or a coupe vs a cabriolet.
I don't think the C9 RS6 is going to be as good as this one. It will probably be faster to 60, but it will weigh a lot more and the rumors say it will be a V6 PHEV so giving up the nice sounds the V8 makes.
I am thinking of trading in my 2024 911 Targa GTS for an RS6 Avant. What is a good trade in number to shoot for on the 911. It had a MSRP of $205K, and has 2700 miles on it. No accidents, full PPF wrap.
I know I will get more with a private sale, but there would be a $12-13K sales tax benefit with the new car if I trade it.
If holding value is your concern down the road the Targa GTS will hold value over the RS6 Avant and is 2 very different cars. The RS6 is nice but have you driven one? They feel huge and they are huge in size compared to your nimble GTS.

Holding value is not the main concern. The 911 market is changing too...used cars selling for over their original MSRP is going to be a thing of the past soon, all the models (except GT cars) are available for MSRP now, it is only a matter of time before discounting 911s returns similar to pre-2020 years.

My pre-traded 25 4GTS is an example of this. Ive watched the cpo price come down $25k in almost 5 months and still isnt at msrp. Bottom line is we are finally experiencing a market reset. Porsche has met the cap of what they can charge IMO. New dealer configured cars are piling up and they still refuse to deal. Interesting times ahead .I have ZERO sympathy for many dealers and wonder if they will come back to earth or just keep the arrogant attitude!?

The dealers will be fine, they made a killing the last 6 years. I feel bad for the people that got roped into paying high ADMs for these cars because they are going to end up holding the bag when they go to sell their car. The only saving grace for the used car values I that Porsche has raised the sticker prices so much.
