Think Targa only comes in AWD ie 4.

How do you reconcile this sentiment with the fact that you just posted about receiving MSRP on a 2024 911 trade-in?

Speaking of holding value from your Targa GTS here is one example: Looks like he was offered same MSRP he paid after 3yrs and putting a good 20,000 plus miles on it. I included with link below if you want to watch it.

I posted asking what was a good trade in. A couple guys posted the Blackbook and MMR values which happen to be over MSRP. I was not looking to get over MSRP.

I cross referenced the retail value with half a dozen cars and its spot on.
And I referenced the value two friends recently received on their trade ins and it was spot on for one and close enough for the other.

So much for my friendly dealers who receptively bid me 130, 135 and 136 which all 3 were below the 138k "rough trade in value for what I thin is clean car at 156k or at very least a average car at 152k.
I wont be selling or doing business with that California dealer, the Pennsylvania dealer and will have a word with my NJ dealer who so far had been doing right by me.

I'm curious how the manual 992.1s will fare. Last summer I saw up to 65k over sticker (insanity) for a GTS. There was one car I really liked, was priced at 40k over sticker. I offered him 20k over sticker and got a lecture about how rare the manual is blah blah. That car is still for sale and he is asking 32k over sticker still. Mind boggling. Glad I found mine at 10k under sticker but it will be interesting to see how it goes going forward.

After a bit of due diligence using blackbook, I just texted my SA, who I like a lot:

Me:

If and when time comes, it will be difficult for me to trade in the current vehicle or to transact for a turbo or a GT3 if the bid on the trade in is as bad as it was. XXXXX came in at 130k. That was 12k below the guy in Philly who had a car ready to sell to me, and to the guy in cali who sold me the car and who was happy to buy it back for anything he had in stock including a few GT3s, a couple of heritage 70s and a couple of turbos.I am just going to chalk it up at he “he did not have time to do a deep dive” but to be close to 20-25k below what others would give on a trade in value was not well received.

SA:
I’ll have em relook at this
Is there something you would move on now
Like pretrade for an allocation
A dealer can give you more
Me: I am waiting to see what’s going on with this gt3 convertible situation…
SA:
Based on what your buying
Like if I have a preowned car on the ground that I own and bought low
A dealer can pay up against a car they are selling or need to move
A fresh new allocation Is a different deal But let me speak to him
We also moved into prime convertible season
As opposed to winter
That’s changes values
Also

Me: Then we we wait until we figure out the gt3 cabriolet whether its a reality or not…if not then turbo s cabriolet

The XXXXX & "him" in the conversation is the Sales Manager who was 8k below the rough trade in value for my car...

funny....

Plenty of Targa 992s out there for sure.
I did not see any dealers with 8 but 171 preowned + CPOs available and 60 new on Porsche finder.
231 is plenty to chose from....some sweet ones too like this one:

Blackbook is a service many dealers use to understand wholesale and retail pricing.
https://www.blackbook.com

Blackbook uses actual market data except for very new cars, where they provide what they call “First Values” estimates (their own guesses).

The primary value of Blackbook to me is to understand what type of trade-in/wholesale price I can expect for my trade-in.

As an example, I traded in a 2024 BMW M8 Coupe when I purchased my 2025 C2 Cab. The trade-in value I was offered from the Porsche dealership was within $100 of the Blackbook stated value. I suspect they looked at the Blackbook to determine what to offer.
