Default Pirelli P Zero R

The newish Pirelli P Zero R tires seem like a potentially excellent all round tire for 992 Carrera models (992.1 Base, S, GTS & 992.2 Base, S). In Tyre Reviews testing it got the best dry lap time, even slightly beating a Michelin Cup 2 and performing much better in the wet. There was no comment on track durability. It was interesting to note that the Cup 2 was actually the quietest tire in test by a good margin. Note sizes listed in table below are one size up from the standard 992 Carrera size tires, but work fine with the OEM 8.5 x 20, 11.5 x 21 wheels (no rubbing or other issues). Both Pirelli P Zero R sizes listed below are currently in stock at TireRack.

I will publicly admit that I am a Michelin snob, but since the PS4S is rather long in the tooth I purchased Continentals last December to replace PS4S on a German sports sedan within my stable. So far I have no complaints. I feel that the juice is no longer worth the squeeze for the PS4S. Michelin needs to get off their @ss and get the replacement out and widely available.

The tires in that review are a low of the "also-rans" in the summer performance tire segment, if you're going to do track work, buy a dedicated set of super-200s or like SC3Rs or similar. If you want on-road performance buy a sporty but quiet tire like an ECS02 or PS5S. Not a single super200, so the review doesn't really tell you which tire is fast. Additionally, not a lot of more modern "all around" tires like the PS5S, ECS02, etc. It's a lot of tires that I like to call "too expensive to be this universally bad". They're perhaps good for OEM tires you'd take delivery of a car with, but I wouldn't keep them for any length of time if you planned to do anything other than street drive until they wear out and then replace with something more useful and likely less expensive.

Literally the entire point of that video was for strictly street driving. The Cup 2 was for benchmark purposes only.
