as proven by this thread, there is no general verdict
any little annoyances or improvements people point out are dwarfed by bigger factors like availability, your own preferences of color and options, trim, etc
Yeah and I will add there are two new sweet colors to PTS that are intriguing to me. Amazon Green and Ipanema Blue are phenomenal. I’ll probably do one of the two for the 80s heritage car.
.2 owner here. Digital tach and dash are fine; mix of analog and digital in 992.1 is odd.If I had my druthers, we'd rewind to the 991/ 718 complete analog dash, but that ship has sailed. So all digital better than the awkward mix on the .1.
Misses on the .2 include the push button start. I'd pay for a twist start. Just tradition and aesthetics, not function.
The PVD (protection of vehicle diagnosis) on the .2 is the biggest miss. We should be able to scan our cars and reset service intervals.
I was looking forward to replacing my 992.1 with a 992.2 . . . . . until the 992.2's came out.
Reasons I reject the 992.2: 1.) All Digital Dash, 2.) Push to Start Button, 3.) Rear Tail Light and Body arrangement, 4.) CAN Bus lock down, 5.) The loss of discrete Front Turn Signals, etc. It just seems like Porsche is pinching pennies on the 992.2 product line.
Also: The market forces that allowed Porsche Dealers huge ADM's and then Porsche joined in (no surprise) with huge price increases to take their piece of that pie. If Porsche improved the car simultaneously with the price increases, I would be OK with that. But it's not what Porsche has done. It's now become Corvette quality, with near Ferrari pricing. (Not that I've ever been impressed with Ferrari quality.) I didn't buy my 992.1 to support my ego, but that seems to be how the market has developed. It's just sad IMHO.

Passed on a new 992.2 C2S when I saw the PTS and extended two tone full leather interior in our 1900 mile 2022 C2S with RAS, Manual Trans, and LSD. Almost the same price (just 5K cheaper). They also threw in another 3 years (CPO) and changed the front windshield (softening weatherstrip). Both .2s and .1s are great cars, but the manual is where my interests are. Having all that torque (390 ft pounds) with a manual is a trip, compared to my high winding 997.1 C4 Cab Base MT. Also, what year is Porsche implementing the eye movement monitoring for driver awareness?

A mix of analog and digital makes a happy marriage of having best of both worlds!!

It’s the ADAS mainly that drives me bonkers. I have the digital screen on the TGT and truth be told it’s not horrendous. But the ADAS stuff is such a turnoff. Mars was able to code out the awful LKA on my TGT luckily otherwise I was actually ready to sell that one back to the dealership over it. Having Sport chrono and mode dial helps with start stop but now the new ones you have to switch off 3-4 items just to get out of the driveway. The button honestly is not a deal killer but it is dumb on their part. I’m still on up to bat for the 80s heritage at my dealer and I will take it but I’m not beating down their door for a .2 and for sure won’t get rid of my .1 for one.
I'm curious as to what 3-4 items you're referring to.
