I have one with stock cats, and another with JCR 200 cell race cats, buddy has a cat delete targa GTS and I have listened to them all side by side.
obnoxious? I dont think so. It is a 3.0L after all. The biggest difference I have heard is you pick up a lot more whistle from the turbo. It is marginally louder but not so different that you cant get used to it. Aside from that the sound difference you do pick up the smell.
Thank you for the insightful response. I already have quite a bit of turbo spool w/ the 100cell and JCR non-valved... sounds like catless might not yield THAT much more volume...

Maybe Im just particularly sensitive to smells, but even the 100 cell sport cats are a bit too stinky for my liking. Running catless wouldnt work for me. @JMW4 is definitely right to point out the odor factor as something you should seriously consider.
I went from 50 cell europipes + stock muffler to 3" BRE custom turbo back setup. Obviously big differences there + inconel tone.
I will say in terms of raw sound you won't notice much under 4k rpm. I actually think the turbo whistle was just slightly louder between the 50 cell and catless for me. Couple people who had heard my car on the old setup certainly couldn't tell a difference in a parking lot.
Above 4k rpm though, definitely way louder and tone differences, but that is more so a product of the 3" setup and BRE inconel tone.
Prob not worth switching if you're already happy and aren't planning a major change to the system anyways.

A tune will make it sound louder and more aggressive and you can switch to 50 cell cats as well !
