Got a SmartTOP from my wife. Any tips to installing on a Targa? I just tried to get the back panel behind the seat off and cannot seem to budge it. Looking for any helpful tips for the install.
One suggestion before you start:
— connect the SmartTop module to your home computer to make sure it has the most current (and probably final) firmware.
— my module had the most current firmware (v1.06, last updated in 2023), so I did not have to update it

Disconnecting the Wiring Plug (the part the SmartTop harness connects to):
— the hardest part is seeing/accessing the small red “locking tab” that holds the plug in place
— the red tab is underneath (on the bottom of the plug), so I could only see it with a small mirror and a flashlight
— to disconnect the harness, the red tab has to be pulled out (only 1/4 of an inch)
— I created a tool out of a bent paper clip to pull out the red tab
— after you pull out the red tab a tiny bit, you then press on the black part (see photo) to release the plug

One final note: some people keep a USB cable permanently connected to the SmartTop module for future updates.
I did not connect a cable:
— I doubt any more updates will be made
— the module is easily accessed by pulling off the back panel
