Default Vehicle Software Updates

Owned my vehicle since Aug 25. I’ve received 3 update notices since picking up my 992.2. Haven’t installed any yet. I just wanted to get some info on experiences from prior updates from other owners. With apple products, the updates are painless with limited bugs. I’ve also previously owned teslas which frequently has update's. There’s not much details on the updates. Is it “safe” to just install?

I have gotten a couple over the same time frame. Usually install right away and they happen very fast. I assume they are minor updates like map info.

Yes, the OTA updates are fine. It’s usually nav updates, minor usability updates, etc. The updates you need to “consider” are the updates that only the dealerships can push.

I agree with the other comments. I've had my car since December '24 and have had quite a few updates since then, mostly to the infotainment system. They have all been quick and without problems.

I just had my 10k Service on my .2 base and they completed another software update. No issues.

It seems like every time I take mine for a drive I get a map update. I never use the navigation so not a big deal for me anyway. I never see it start the update, so it makes me jump when it dings to indicate it’s done. The ding always makes me look at my dash for a warning light, then a quick glance to the PCM to see once again another map update.

Default How do you know it’s happening?

I’ve just got a 24 Targa and I keep seeing a notification alert when I’m driving and I could touch the screen to open it; but don’t want to when driving!! It then vanishes without trace. Are they the updates? If not, where do I see them?

The updates load quickly, then it’s done. The PCM doesn’t reboot or anything. You can always check the updates/notifications section in the PCM.

If you can operate a microwave, you can find the option in your settings menu. It literally says notifications or updates.
