The 992.2 is a daily driver- today quite dirty and Im embarassed- will get a wash tonight.
I play the lottery though every time I get in.
1- For no rhyme or reason wireless car play will/will not work- 80% it works
2- for the steering wheel to return to position on start up- Ive tried many things door open start door closed start- foot on brake foot off brake pre start- seemingly random that it works 50% of the time
Definitely need the door closed AND give the steering wheel time to move when you turn the key to the on position, er, touch the start button to energize the system. CarPlay is an issue for all of us w a Porsche! Sorry. I just plug mine into a cord.
CarPlay seems to work 100% of the time for me - though sometimes it takes 3 seconds and sometimes it takes 3 minutes.
3 seconds or 1 minute for me but if you unlock the car earlier the car starts booting up. When I walk up and start loading my stuff into the trunk and then get in, it syncs immediately. If I just jump in and start it, it takes at least a minute.
CarPlay for both 911s is a hit or miss. I had thought that the issue was the car being on the home network. Nope. - happens sometimes away from the house. No rhyme or reason. iPhone 16 Pro, totally up to date.
Regardi g the wheel, just make sure your seat position when driving is not all the way back against the stop. If it is, move it up a hair.

Was in your boat. Then made sure the phone was not linked via wifi to the car hotspot and now it just works.
Use BT only since Carplay will create an automatic wifi link. If you already paired up a manual hotspot link, Carplay can't start.
It's hit or miss what part of the PCM "wins" on startup, if your manually created hotspot wifi link or Carplay gets there first.
I have a similar issue with wireless car play. It usually connects but sometimes it won't and once that happens it remains problematic until the phone is reset. For my issue, I have narrowed it down to bluetooth. If I turn BT on and back on again on my phone, it immediately connects. I recently had it not connect as I was leaving for a service appointment, so I intentionally did not reset the BT. When I got into the loaner vehicle, it did not connect there either. I reset BT on my phone and it immediately connected. So the issue appears to be on my phone and not with the car. While I suspect we don't all have the same issue, the next time it happens to you, you might want to try cycling bloothtooth on your phone to see if that works for you.
