influencer tool inspired front license plate mount
I haven't driven my 992 into the SF much because I know I'll get a no front plate ticket. About a month ago my daughter asked me to buy an attachment for her phone with a bunch of suction cups on one side. I had no idea what it was for until I saw two girls making a video in front our business with a phone stuck on the window. Now I get it. I was thinking of getting a Carbonio mount. Loved the clamp version on my 997 GT3, but I didn't like the thought of the $200 mount being held by a strong sticker.
I just thinking of a way I could temporarily mount the front plate when I park on SF streets. On the OEM mount, the center part of the face sits pretty close along the flatter part of the front bumper. That's when I thought of the suction cup accessory I got for my daughter. Hers had a MagSafe mount on one side but you can get double sided suction cup versions for $6 for a two pack, pink and clear, nice. It just arrived today and mounts pretty solid. I'll keep in the garage overnight. I don't plan to drive with it and I'll have to put some sort of sticky note on my steering wheel to remind me to remove the front plate. But so far, this might work.
^^^ The ONLY way I'd put a license plate on my car if required. New York mandates it but where I live they don't bother me. The only people that give me crap are the Canadian Border guards when I cross the bridge in to Ontario. I used to carry my 350Z's plate in the car and tell the cop, "the bolt stripped out and I haven't fixed it yet" as I showed him the plate I had under the seat. lol

I'm in Kent-Woodlands and have a deputy who will sign your ticket if you get one. Come on by.
6 hours later . Going to try to apply some gorilla glue type tape with a smoother back surface next to stick onto the back surface of the license plate frame. Suction cups still felt pretty firm on the bumper. I just need the front plate to stick for 2 hours max while I park in the Marina, Russian Hill, North Beach, Hayes Valley and along the Wharf. After re-applying as is, it still feels firm enough to do that job.
If someone can create suction cup based bike racks people trust their $10k+ bikes on their 911's, some has to be able to create a suction cup based front license plate holder.

That's why I'm going through all this. Every new car I've tried to park in my usual spots in SF without a front plate, I get a ticket.
I park at Polk & Jackson all the time. They're relentless.
Seriously, these guys don't like to see our cars molested by front plates either, as long as you're not an a-hole.
I drive in to work in SF occasionally, parking in Portrero Hill area. I've had a couple of no front plate tickets thus far.
On my previous GT4, I'd photoshopped the rear plate (bar the stickers) on the front and uploaded it to get it reduced to $10. I've uploaded the same photo 3 times, including once 3 weeks apart and it was approved in 2-3 days.
On my 992, I temp mounted my front plate using blue tac, took a photo and put the plate away.
I've used that photo successfully once so far.
I know they are off center and may block parking sensors, but what about that tow hook mount for when you need it?
I’ve mostly left front plates off my vehicles, but two of them have a tow hook mount w/ plate all mounted up that stay in the car
that’s what I now use, but don’t always remember to install. Also, don’t let the tow hook cover dangle, it’ll fly off at high speed and you’ll have to buy the part and have it painted to match…ask me how I know

Verified with chatgpt. I thought I still had to pay the full fine but it indeed drops to $10. There's a CHP station right near me and it's always been easy enough to get signed off.
So suction cups failed overnight. I re-applied and they fell off within an hour. However, after applying a little water, it stayed on for the 3+ hours I was home this morning. This will work for me for now. If it falls off while parked and I get a ticket, it's a $10 fix it ticket and the suctions cups should hold long enough to get the CHP to sign off.
How about just sticking suction cups sans the plate bracket to the license plate itself and then pressing that onto your bumper so the suction cups have a lot less weight to hold? There's really no need for the mounting bracket.
