Default 992.2 CS winter tire recommendation and size?

Just curious what everyone is running width/brand for 20/21 setups. Tire rack shows 305 rears but read some were running 295. Not sure if that is for a 992.2. Do those work on 11.5 rims?

Thanks

I have 245/35-20, 305/30-21, Michelin Alpin 5's going on OEM Spyder wheels in the coming weeks. There are few options for snow tires that are this large, your NA spec options are Goodyear or Michelin. A 295 width tire on an 11.5" wheel will have a little bit of stretch, but will be better for cutting through snow and slush. I only drive my 911 in cold, dry weather, so snow traction isn't my priority.

I'm new to Porsche and new to my 992.1 911 Carrera T, but I also went with the OEM size, 245/35/20 front and 305/30/21 rear. Like @itsJustJed, I'm only planning to drive in cold dry weather. I selected an Ultra High Performance All-Season tire, the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 PLUS. At Tire Rack they were the only option in that category and size from a major recognizable brand.

I don't know where you live, but if we're talking "winter" as in serious winter not just a couple of degrees below freezing, then Nokian studded are the only ones worth considering. But then again at 100 odd miles from the arctic circle what do I know right?

Wow @siberian ! The Northernmost 2021 992C4S, eating raw meat, running naked, sleeping in the snow, and running your 911 with Nokian studded tires! That's a life well lived!

Well I do have some help from my Siberian Huskies, Olga my skid steer and let's not forget my 08 V8 Touareg and 2020 Macan S.

And, of course, it's my Siberians the ones eating raw meat, running naked and sleeping in the snow of course

I'm in the DC area so we usually don't get much snow, and if we do, the roads get cleared pretty quickly. I guess it's more for cold/wet roads. Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of the Spyder OEM wheels so looking for some aftermarket wheels and tires for them. My car is scheduled for delivery sometime between early December and early January, so trying to go ahead and order some wheels soon. Didn't know if I should go OEM summer rear width 11.5 or OEM winter rear width 11" rims.

I purchased Michelin Aplin 5s: 245 in the front, 305 for the rear. Gonna go on R/S Spyder 20/21 wheels.

I have received a set of MAK Monaco wheels, 19X8.5 fronts and 20X11 rears for my 2020 Carrera S (20's and 21's standard) for my winter use.
I'm waiting to have my Pirelli P Zero Winter 2 tires installed. Sizes are 235/40R19 front and 295/35R20 rears.
I've had Pirelli Sottozero's and Michelin Alpins on previous 911's for winter use. Thought I'd try these new Pirelli's.

I bought and used Vredestein Wintrack Pros last year. 245/35/20 and 315/30/21. Worked very well.

Alpin A5s are phenomenal. I ran a 2.8 sec 0-60 and 10-sec quarter mile, wet @ 36 F if that tells you anything.

A few years back I was test driving for VW/Audi/Bentley in their Arctic Test Center and IIRC a customer had asked them to test Vredestein on an RS7, They were appalling in the cold and snow, absolutely no grip. The Michelin Alpin I have are no better with hardly any snow traction when compared to the Hakka studded on the wife's Macan.

Vredestein is a good mild winter tire for above -10F I would reckon, but certainly not for up here. Blizzaks would be a way better and cheaper choice. Nokian does (finally) have studded tires available for the 992 for those needing an extreme winter. While Olga, my skid steer has chains on all four tires, I've never had to use them on on any of my cars.

Just my two cents realizing very few folks face similar conditions.

a 992.2 C4S or .1? The offsets changed for the .2 so finding a reasonably priced set of winter of wheels was impossible for me (also canadian)
