Looking for some advice here. Have a new 992 and the wiper on the driver side jutters in heavier rain (it does not happen in light rain or cleaning the windows). It drives me nuts. I thought it may be related to ceramic coating that I recently had applied. I had the installer redo a coat on the windshield to smooth it out. I then replaced the blades with silicone PIAA blades but its still happening. Any other ideas? Thanks!

Guessing here, but I wonder if the slickness of your coated windshield is actually the problem. The rubber blade has to "flip" when the wiper changes direction otherwise it will slide and judder across the glass. Maybe the blade can't get a "bite" on the glass so that it can flip over because it's TOO slick, especially when there's more water to lubricate the glass?
Never had a windshield coated before so have no idea if your problem is at all common. Could be something else entirely. Just a thought.

I have windshield protection film, and my wipers shudder also. I complained about to my installer, and he told me the solution was for them to apply some ceramic to the wiper blade edge. This did take care of it, but the shudder has returned. (I dont remember if I got new wipers with my last service; otherwise the coating could have worn off). Nevertheless, try applying some ceramic to the wiper edges.
Doesn't always work, but try rain-X windshield cleaner. Seems to act like a lubricant and worked for me with the only caveat being you must stay on top of it (clean with it very week or so in rainy season). GL.
Happened to me on and off, never happened to me in any other car. Got a new set od wiper blades and no longer a problem. Figured they were a bad batch or smth.
When you ceramic coat a windshield, the water clears so completely that youre dragging a dry blade across the windshield. Ask your installer about a blade lubricant.
If you do nothing, the wipers will eventually just wear right through the coating.
I generally discourage any windshield coatings or films if you intend to actually drive your car. These are products without real world benefits.
If you are worried about chips, carry a cheap (<$20) windshield repair kit in your 911. You can fix a small chip before it turns into a big problem.
Thanks for all the input. I have never ceramic coated a car before and I probably would have skipped the windshield in retrospect. Even when raining you kind of need the wipers so Im not seeing any real world benefit from coating the windshield. And like I said, the jittering drives my OCD wild. Thanks again.
Strange. My coated windshield is like using traditional Rain-X in that at speeds of 40 and above, I dont need to use the wipers even in torrential downpours. The faster Im going the better the coating works.
