LOL. According to my SA, he consulted with the "shop manager" for this quote.

When I asked them to clarify the 2 1/2 hours, this is what he says:

“Yes, that is the labor time to install and program the side skirts to the vehicle.”

program to the vehicle!?!? what is he talking about?

This is just as critical as rotating the air in the tires.

That is why many of us avoid the dealer as much as possible.

hilarious.

Draining last season’s air from the tires and filling with fresh, summer-grade air

Recalibrating the cup holder for grande and venti. Updating the muffler firmware for better exhaust flow.

Thankfully John K. At Porsche Southampton and Rich R. at Elrich Auto Body in Aquebogue are trustworthy gentlemen when there are so many charlatans!!!

So the service manager, whom like the service writer has little to no real technical/mechanical experience at all. These guys generally sit in front of a computer all day long.

@RolexSub They don't but you can get aftermarket in OEM quality ABS, direct replacement like GT3 skirts that look and feel OEM in every way.
Dalian Turbo skirts

I had mine painted.

Apologies if this DIY install video and ordering yourself from Suncoast option has already been posted, but @solidgranite needs to show his service department the "coding procedure" (coded with a flathead screwdriver)

Ironically I added a $150 MachinedSpeed cupholder to my passenger seat because my OEM cupholders were incapable of being re-coded to hold a trenta size!

that “experts” Porsche tech/SA that ignited this discussion here must have been on to something for sure.

Question for anyone that has a good amount of before and after GT3 side-skirt mileage: do the little "flares" near the hips seem to cut down on any rock hits to the hips?
My guess would be no just because most of the hip damage seems to come from stones the front tires fire down the rockers at them. But maybe the GT3 skirts create a little vortex that might help?

Your guess is right. Get a set of mud flaps to save the hips. The side skirts do nothing but collect dirt and look cool.
