Wow, sounds like a run of bad parts from the manufacturers - or maybe they changed suppliers from the .1. Probably saved a dollar on the new part, and now they may be facing a recall or a port hold to replace them all - three cars at one dealer with the same issue is significant.
Engine temp Sensor. He had three new 992.2 with the same problem; part was ordered and being replaced Friday.
What part was ordered?
After service center charged battery my issue went away for a little, I also got a CTEK charger to keep the battery. I connected whenever car was in garage parked.
This kept issues away. However, when I got into the car on a cold day, I turned seat heater and steering wheel heater on and then started car. "Reduced Engine Power" immediately showed. Restarted car and it went away.
I feel fairly certain at this point it's a bad battery issue, high current draw prior to startup and can replicate the issue now - the battery must be weak... I feel like during transport/sitting at dealership the power button may have been left on instead of turning it off and the battery died while in accessory mode, it must've sustained some damage... (instead of traditional ignition... button now... its really easy to accidently do this I almost did it myself but caught it when the car would not lock)
Recently after a ~1 hour drive, right after I turned off the car, I also got message on the screen "The PCM can only be used when battery charge is sufficient". I need to go to the service center and try to convince them to try and replace the battery, but their "tests" all came back good...

They ordered oil temp sensor. I thought it was a battery issue since it sat with my detailer for a week while getting PPF and then sat on a truck to be transported to Florida. When I brought it to my dealer, he swapped the battery and looked over when it was triggered. The next day, he called me and said another two 992.2 had the same issue and was related to a bad temp sensor. I will let you know the part number when i pick up the car on friday.

Thanks, most have seen other errors besides the oil temp too (reduced engine power, no power steering, etc.) so would be interesting to hear how it plays out, keep us updated! Hope it works out for you.

thanks for the update.
pretty big number of cars, for just one dealer. 3 facelifts with the same issue at the same dealer.....hmmmm
Power steering on my 992.2 out multiple times now... Very disappointing.
Get the battery on the charger whenever it's parked and not driving for a few days and this should help solve the issue. I had a constant problem but it's since gone away if I keep it plugged in when not driving.
I have the CTEK 5.0 from Amazon and keep it on CAR, AGM, RECOND. I'm sure this will solve your problem too... or you can convince the dealership to replace battery...

These cars shouldn't need to be on a charger when not used for a few days. I wouldnt be happy if that is what it took for minee to opeerate properly.
A lot of recent model Cayenne owners have seen “phantom” errors that clear themselves after the car is off for a while, or the battery topped up. Recently mine threw 8 different faults during a drive, not real and all disappeared. Overall feel from many users is these faults seem battery related, or “voltage sensitivity” related. Low batteries from sitting at the dealers and ports definitely seems to increase the likelihood.
I noticed my 992.2 couldn’t handle playing YouTube for even 30 minutes before telling me the battery was low even after a long drive (and solved by plugging my Noco Genius maintainer in). It seems that the batteries on these cars have almost no “extra” power at all. I’ve kept mine on the Noco maintainer anytime I’m not driving it for even a couple days, and no errors in 2000 miles.
A couple bits to bear in mind: Power steering on the 992.2 is a software option. (I.e. easy to “fail” without an actual hardware failure)
”PCM can only be used with sufficient charge” is a standard message that pops up shutting down both Cayenne and 992.2 models. The odd thing is, I don’t remember noticing it EVERY time I shut down the cars. Maybe it’s always there and I don’t always notice, or maybe it is sensing a battery state. It’ll do it after long drives though so it’d be more a voltage sensitivity than an actual low battery.
Funny have been noticing the ”PCM can only be used with sufficient charge” as well. I hope Porsche takes this seriously. Not practical to always plug into a tender.can only be used with sufficient charge” is a standard message that pops up shutting down both Cayenne and 992.2 models.

my power steering message just popped up saying reduced power steering. Has anyone heard anything further on the cause and fix. I have 3000 miles on my 992.2.
The batteries in these cars have a very low capacity while the BMS supports “intelligent” charging. To recover the energy from one start up it takes about 20 miles of driving. Bottom line, if you don’t drive every day at least that, put it on a maintainer. I get faults when the car has been standing still for 3-4 days. Hence, if I know I’m not using it for about that time, I connect to the battery maintainer.
