Now that it appears that the 992.2 Carrera S is not going to have a hybrid powertrain. I am no longer interested in it. Basically for 10 hp. I lose the lovely interior of my 992.1S and will have to pay an extra 80K. So I wonder if I should take another hard look at the GTS. When are these going to be on the road? Anyone have one yet? would really like to know if they have a huge improvement in fuel economy, making them better commuter cars while still being great track cars. (I know Porsche is really downplaying any of the economic benefits of hybrids so as not to upset the traditional Porschophiles). Also interested if there have been other practical upgrades with the 992.2s. Anyone know if remote starting is now possible with the 48V architecture or the hybrid battery? Is innodrive now a legitimate self driving trchnology? How about simple traffic light recognition? Lane keep assist?
first hand knowledge appreciated!
If you're considering an S over a 992.2 GTS, you might as well get a new 992.1 C2S on a dealer lot now, and not wait the 2+ years for the 992.2 C2S, that will have just minor improvements that probably won't really justify either (1) the wait time or (2) the increased MSRP

maybe I wasn’t clear. I do have a 992.1 Carrera S and have 40K miles and about 15 track events on her. Just looking to upgrade…but I agree that the 992.2 S may be worse than a lateral move…

i might look at a 992.1 GT3 at this point if u want an upgrade. Specially if u track these cars GtS might be too small of an upgrade vs your 992.1 S
no way. A 992.2 GTS will be a huge performance upgrade over a 992.1 S.
A few of my mates that have driven the 992.2 GTS, say that if you had a 992.1 tts and the 992.2 gts arrived. You would not bother looking for the keys to the 992.1 tts
Anyone know when the first of the gts cars will be delivered to owners? Very interested in real world experience…
Per the October 25 2024 Q3 Press and Analyst call, 992.2 GTS production will start in Q4 of 2024. They acknowledged delays with GTS production and numerous supply chain disruptions. My guess is we will start to see 992.2 GTS examples in the United States in December 2024 or early 2025.

I can believe that. The hybrid drivetrain and e-turbo in the 992.2 GTS will really smooth out its power band and give it an instantaneous response. I think the 992.1 TTS will still be a nicer grand touring car and will have more presence, but in most ways will be out classed by the 992.2 GTS. The power delivery will be much quicker and it will feel sportier. The 992.2 GTS 4 actually has the exact same curb weight as the 992.1 Turbo:
The 992.2 GTS will be a massive jump in performance compared to the new 992.2 Carrera S. I think the S will really only make sense to get as a manual (assuming it is available with a manual). It could make sense too if you are worried about the reliability of the hybrid drivetrain or typical higher deprecation associated hybrids in general.
A lot of conjecture about how this car may drive…. Sorry but a turbo will always be a turbo… anyone who calls a Turbo S especially in a 992 variant ‘a grand tourer’ has never driven one on a track. They are absolute animals with the right tire. Had a 992.1S with sport pack and now both 992 gt3 and tts

That’s one said it’s all in the throttle response apparently. Also like with the current Cayenne the steering and suspension feels better with more range than prior. My 2WD GTS Cab is due to complete build end of next week, really looking forward to driving it.

those mate must be from the press or influencers as NO 992.2 GTS has been delivered to customers yet. The first 992.2 GTS have just been delivered here in Germany, a buddy of mine will collect his as one of the first on 15th Nov., I´ll pick mine up early December25.
