Paid for Bose Stereo, got the Base system. Think Porsche scammed me.

I’m quite sure (I think) since the PCM has of the AudioPilot and configurable settings that it is a Bose amp/controller, but don’t feel like messing with my car at the moment to confirm. Then again, I thought the speakers were as well. 💩🤷🏻♂️

I considered replacing the speakers with the feelart system. But I was concerned that really wasn’t going to sound that much better. In my last TTS I had the Burmester system. To my ears, the Bose system in my 992 sounds as good as my system in the last car. A good friend of mine owns a high-end car audio store that does high-end installations. He listen to it at length and he thought it sounded pretty good. His partner in the store has a 992 turbo S with the Burmester system in it for comparison. I have listened to the Burmester system in the 992. I don’t really think it sounded any better at all. Maybe the tweeter was a little less screechy at high volume but other than that the base didn’t sound really any better.
idk. Maybe my ears are just not good enough.

It can be argued that the “Bose” system is a package created by Bose. Using whatever parts they seem reasonable.
When you buy a Porsche, not every part is made by Porsche. I have some weird company name on my tires….
Or they could just be pulling a fast one.

The Bose drivers are junk in any event. Question is do you have the Bose amplifier and DSP as others have mentioned.
Having said that, would be interesting (albeit impossible) to know if when they swapped the Bose drivers for the ASK drivers did they actually adjust the DSP to account for the different frequency response of the ASK drivers and different sensitivities.
Changing out speakers without adjusting the DSP is a bit of a fools errand to be honest. If the DSP was properly tuned to the original drivers, there is zero chance putting in new drivers will make the system sound better and I’m betting it would simply sound “different” and measure worse.
Best way to figure that out is to measure the frequency response of the system before and then after swapping speakers.
Unfortunately I didn’t measure the difference when I swapped them before the changing the amp and redoing the tune. I do recall the bass feeling tighter and more full, but that could’ve also simply been the sound dampening in the door that i did vs the new speakers.

yeah before we circle the wagons, light the torches and call in the militia we need somebody from a different model year or production period to verify that they actually have BOSE door speakers in a 911. Or have a dealer verify what should be in there.
I can see the difference between the stock and bose system being the amp and an extra speaker in the dash or something...

This will definitely have me taking my car apart soon. One of my biggest gripes day one was how crappy the “Bose” system was after paying a premium and now this. This is not acceptable in any sense.

yall should look up by the OBDii port - you can see the sticker on a Bose tweeter speaker there. I "have" Bose and this driver says Bose on it in my car. I'm not taking apart door cards to check mids/lows... too much risk of creating more problems than solving.
If you put your phone on the floorboard, looking up at purple OBDii port, there is a driver just outboard of the OBDii port, but higher. You can see the white rectangular Bose sticker from below, on a gold-plated metal surface (presume this is the bottom of the driver).
