sorry for any confusion I may have caused here. When I said that I had the glass sunroof before, I meant on my previous 992 that I owned. I ordered this car with the carbon fiber roof from factory… it was not changed. I do not believe that you could easily or cheaply go through that process. Likely easier to trade the car in.

I've done this on a few cars - it's actually not that difficult. Installing the new lid is a snap - it just glues on with 4 nuts. Removing the sunroof is more of a challenge, but if you aren't worring about salvaging the sunroof, makes it a bit easier. Normally the front windscreen needs to bet out - and preferably the rear window as well. I haven't done one with the rear window installed, but think it would be possible. Best time to consider doing this is when replacing a cracked or chipped front windscreen.

There are basically 3 types of carbon roofs:
  1. Standard gloss carbon roofs with and without XM antenna
  2. "Double Bubble" RS gloss carbon roof
  3. S/T / SC "Double Bubble" painted roof
The standard gloss carbon roofs are not difficult to find on ebay - expect to pay $4 to $5K for a used one. There are also a few RS style roof panels available used - usually around $10K. I've only seen one S/T / SC roof on the secondary market - it's insanely expensive new from Porsche - I think latest pricing is around $17K. The other two new are around $11K new, so pays to search for a good used one.
