Default is it just me or does this car seem to pick up every f*cking rock and pebble?

Every time I drive, I feel like I have a popcorn machine in the rear tires. It seems like every single rock or pebble gets picked up and thrown around back there. I do have PPF, but it’s still starting to get very annoying. And this is on normal streets nothing crazy is it just me? Is there something I can do about it?

You can buy tires that aren’t sticky.

It's the aluminum rear fenders -- 992 is almost entirely aluminum vs the 991.2 which had steel rear fenders. The rocks make more noise hitting the aluminum vs steel.

low flat bottom and those rear fenders filled by wide sticky tires are right behind you in the cabin. My T has the reduced sound deadening too, it's very noisy but I find it appealing. Still havent tried out my base stereo haha.

Same thing happens to me. Don't love driving on the sh**ty roads, potholes, and gravel. But I haven't noticed any long term issues once I get back on decently paved roads. Gotta take the good with the bad I guess.

Damn rock magnets, particularly on front. I guess much depends on your local roads. Here in Atlanta if I’m on certain roads I have to stay way back due to the volume of trucks and dump trucks. And those annoying ones that day “not responsible for broken windshields”. I’ve adjusted my routes to compensate when I take the 992. Must be the shape at the front compared to square face suvs.

One month old and already replaced the hood ppf. Bound to happen again but had two nasty rocks that hit and I couldn’t stand to look at the damage. Unfortunately one went thru ppf, but the repair has made it barely noticeable. I’m now adopting the 3 ft rule.

Edit - realized this might be more pebbles in wheel wells. I think it sounds worse than it is but plenty of pickup. Remove the side skirts and it’s a small quarry!

I thought it was common knowledge that the 911 shape was a joint effort of Porsche Design Team and detailers worldwide.

Change 911's. Get one with skinny tires

Just PPF and yolo your gravel worries away. If you think the 911 is bad, you should drive a McLaren. Whole new level of gravel rattling and sound bouncing off the carbon monocoque

Thanks. Ya as long as it’s not damaging the car I’m ok with it. Just for PPF done yesterday so not gonna worry about it anymore!

Haha yes it's a feature on the LT McLarens with no carpeting and exposed carbon monocoque.
