Revved engine while in P

Revved engine while in P
The full details are too embarrassing, but basically I pulled over to put something in the back seat and put the car (PDK) in P, then I accidentally hit the throttle and revved the engine. How many RPMs? I don’t know because I was reaching into the back seat and not looking at the dash. It certainly gave me and the people around me a jolt. For some reason, I assumed that P in normal drive mode turned off the engine, locking the throttle pedal, and starting it again required shifting to D, R, or N. But I guess not!
Is there risk of my having done any damage here while I’m still in the break-in period? I’m guessing no, but I still have the slight paranoia of a first-time new P car owner.
Related, should putting the car in P also enable the parking break every time or not necessarily?

You have done no damage to revving while the car is in parking. All you have done is probably waste some gas and get excited.

I’m fairly certain that the car is fine, rev limit(er),,,,take it too the dealer, have them run a $1k 10min scan for confirmation 😎

Race Car
There’s absolutely zero chance you did any damage. The car actually has a stupid rev limiter that doesn’t let you go over 3,000rpm.
But you can have it removed with an M-Engineering tune.
Also yes, the car has an electronic parking brake that is activated when the car is put in park.

With all the hype about over-revs, it’s easy for some to get confused.
Nothing wrong with asking a question and learning.

Three Wheelin'
It's possible you caused some serious damage. I would sell immediately.

Why would you think the car shuts the engine off when you put it in park??? 🤣
