Info on specs is out now for quite some time. Dealers do know - not sure in the US where PCNA is in the middle but for sure in other markets the direct dealers know. We had the info since september last year for the main .2 releases.

I think this dealer is wrong but then again more info might be available for the future i.e 2026 and things might have changed.

The bigger brakes that would normally only come on the S trims and upwards is now standard on base. Surprising but good change. Gone are the small looking brake calipers and rotors you have on base Carreras..

If it had a manual and proper diff would be the perfect car. But I think Porsche knows this…
I heard from the AD that there is are talks that the Carrera T is coming, after the release of the S in January. The Manual T will have PTV same as the 992.1, I can't imagine what tuning that call do!!!

If between now and then an interesting CPO example pops up, I would make the switch. I'm sure the dealer will be happy to sell me one either way.

I'm in Canada where ADM's thankfully do not exist.
This is a wise move . If I never owned a 911 and was looking at a new car this is a safe bet . The hybrid not only carries some first. year reliability risk , it also is rather expensive . The Base car still has a pure ICE twin turbo engine and is an upgrade over the former base . I have dabbled on the configurator with every car from a stripped base to a loaded GTS . I found that things like premium package are for the first time not such a great bundle anymore . I detest ACC . Just choosing LCA and surround view individually are cheaper . Here is my least expensive Base car that I think still has essentials . It's about 35K more than your nicely spec Macan .

In the cheezy video release, the commentary stated a number of items were now standard or upgraded on the Base....from what I can tell, the No Cost changes include the following:
- brakes
- engine
- clock
- sport button

(seems like we need one of those dealer ordering sheets that highlights differences)
What am I missing?

Sh*tty that Gaurds is now a charge but I do like the new 2-tone standard leather replacement for the light intetior option.

Lot of love for the base carerra. Finally improved breaks, and the design is equally good as .1, unlike the horizontal slats on the GTS. Performance is adequate, as even base 911 is plenty fast. Most importantly non hybrid and relatively uncomplicated engine compared to the GTS. It's also the most affordable.

I think the base 992.2 is a better buy than the GTS now. Retains all ICE/twin-turbo setup w/ GTS trickle down upgrades. No hybrid BS. I detest the 992.2 GTS design but it works better on the base without the front gills. The base LED headlights also look better in design than the 992.1 units. 992.1 base wasn't really that desirable, was more of a budget limitation build for aspiring owners stretching to get in a 911. 992.2 base is arguably now a new "sweet spot" trim, no longer bare bones w/ respectable upgrades and performance. Makes the S more irrelevent now with the base and GTS positioned the way they are.

if Porsche announced that 992.2 S will have all ICE/twin trubo setup with better hp, will 992.2 S be more desirable?

Definitely more desirable than GTS. Base vs S is a different discussion. Let's wait to see what the difference is. Probably LSD and even better brakes.

It does but they tweaked it on the Base car and likely can do the same on the S .

The only 2 differentiating factors now between base and GTS, is the price delta and t-hybrid. The S needs to offer a manual to differentiate itself, as it would be the only reason I'd buy it over the GTS! Otherwise if not, the price delta between the two is relatively small, and most would just jump for the GTS. I know I would. Unless ADM and long allocation wait-list shenanigans are in play.
