This is an excellent point. The BMW S58 3.0L M3/M4 Comp. has been shown to produce at least 550HP at the flywheel with the 2025 now sporting an additional 20HP. The "upgraded" 992.2 base engine is less than 400? Tough to swallow especially at these prices. That BMW S58 will rip to 60 in 2.7 seconds and run high 10s.

I have a .1 base on order and was offered the opportunity to pass on the car and get one of the first .2s. I decided to keep the .1 order as I really prefer the smoother lines of the .1. I'm sure that the .2 will grow on me, but there really is nothing about that car that would make me want to move to the .2 now. As many have said, the cosmetic changes really do appear to have been made the sake of change rather than moving the aesthetic forward. I'll never tune my car, so the bigger turbos mean nothing to me other than the 8 hp increase (who cares about 8 hp in a base Carrera?) - so nothing on the mechanical side to make me want a .2 more than a .1. As for the dash, I do prefer the current dash arrangement.

Anytime someone at Porsche says "the 911 experience should be more like driving our big SUV and sedan" they should be slapped and fired.

This 992.2 thread is really par for the course. Very rare that generational changes are initially accepted.

I for one really like the new dash layout for several reasons:
*you can see the entire dash
*many different layouts are possible-variety is the spice of life.
*more information is accessible

I like the from end better on the .2. Would have to see it in the flesh for the rear. For me the prices have become far too high for a 911. These were always 100k cars to me. Now that they are starting in the 125 range and reach up to 3 it's just not worth it to me anymore. It's almost a 50% bump in price from the 991. More power to anyone else that still wants them but I'm out. I will say as a Taycan owner that first gen hybrid system will be a nightmare after warranty.

Do not disagree and I can afford to buy them.

But - I would no longer buy a new Porsche nor build one.

At these prices I would only buy "used"/"second hand"

Screw the Nurburgring. Remember when you made the 959 to figure out how far you could take an aircooled car? How about a new project to figure out how to make a modern car that is smaller, lighter, and has better overall driving pleasure?

I was only speculating based on the fact that it was mentioned in another thread that Europe has some "Zero Idling" standard coming, and they have removed the starter from the engine and now use the traction motor to start it.

Lambda One feels a bit like the modern, European version of the US MPG requirements that neutered the muscle cars of the 60's. I don't think we'll get see the HP drop like they did back then, but we're certainly seeing cars held back from their potential merely for "efficiency" quotas. Really unfortunate....

What's even more annoying about this, is that it looks like they left the cutout from the 992.1 switch. So, they redesigned the switch but didn't redesign the dash.

Like a lightly used Cayman?

So many threads on this; where to post?

After absorbing much (but by no means all) of the new info rolling out and a trip or two down Configurator lane, I decided to run out to the garage and give my new Targa a big hug.

I was out at no MT but the hybrid system sounds like something you don’t want to have the first (or maybe 2nd, 3rd or 4th) generation of.

Looks like I’m done buying new 911s if the only non-hybrid MT cars with a removable top are well north of $200k as well as unobtainable by mortals.

If you’ll excuse me I have to go out and hug my car again.

Nice!

I sold my 992 last year and I was looking forward to getting back in with 992.2… But I am very disappointed… looking at Lotus Emira or a used 911 now…

Very upset with Porsche really

The vertical active air intake slats on the front of the .2 GTS look ridiculous and ruin the front of the car.
All designers know that the formula to create an aesthetically pleasing design is to copy nature. That’s why these type of slatted air intakes always look great on the side of the front fenders because that’s where they are on a Shark.
A Shark doesn’t have gills on the front, nothing does. That’s why they look dumb, out of place and unnatural. A schoolboy error in design 101.
