Did I buy an undesirable 911
Not sure if this were to post this as this site is confusing AF lol. The 911 forum is just for pre 1990 ones I guess and this forum says for non turbo and I think mine is turbo but anyway… I just bought a 2023 Carrera T for my daily. I’ve tried to watch videos about them as I don’t know anything about Porsche because I’ve never liked them aesthetically….. but I really like this one. However, based on what I’ve seen online, it seems to be VERY different than what everyone else has which leads me to believe it’s a ‘wrong’ spec. I mean, I don’t care really since it’s pleasing aesthetically to me over the others… mine has PDK which is contrary to every single video I watch raving that the whole greatness of the T is the availability of a manual but I didn’t want manual for my daily and I heard the PDK is fantastic. So that’s one difference. Also, it has the glass roof and sunroof (which I love), it has the rear seats added back in and it has the aerokit- ALL of which add weight back to it which is contrary to another ‘selling point’ of the T. But again, the aerokit is a MUST for me as I don’t like the look without it and the roof is great to have also here in south Florida. Lastly, it also has different front and rear bumpers than almost all the ones I see for sale or in videos… and for me, it’s a MUCH better look. I think it’s called a sport design or something. So I guess the question is, are the manual transmissions selling for more money like many other brands or is it kind of the same as PDK with Porsches? And why on earth are there SO FEW equipped with the aerokit? Am I the only one who thinks it makes the car 100% as far as looks go? Anyway, something feels weird about this one but maybe it’s only because of my lack of knowledge with 911’s… thanks for any input. Feel free to slam me and tell me I bought a bastard of a car or support the spec. Either way, I appreciate any insight. Thanks guys. I’m gonna try to post some pics but don’t know how or if I can… here goes….

If you are happy with it, that’s all that matters! Specs go in and out of fashion and you bought the car that is right for you. People will have opinions but the best car is the one you’re driving, not a theoretical one.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!

Not a fan of a yellow car but I think with the high gloss black aerokit and the fact its a T model makes it work. Makes it look like a fun car to zip around in and not one of those boring gray, black, white cars (eye roll). Good on you and lets definitely see more photos and the interior too

I’ll post more once I get the car the end of this week and take some more pics… and yes, I agree with yellow with gloss black with sport design package and aerokit looks pretty unique. Was just surprised to not see many or any others with sport design and aerokit.

Most 992s are sold as automatic, so you'll have plenty of buyers for your car if you ever sell it. With that said, the pdk and some of these other options definitely make it a less desirable "T" to enthusiast folks since it dilutes a lot of the benefit of this particular model.
As far as why so few are equipped with Aerokit; it's because there was always a low take-rate to begin with but then there was a stop sale on Aerokit for at least a year where it couldn't be ordered at all.
Overall very cool car. Welcome to the group!

oh, I don’t care at all… was more of a question due to my lack of Porsche knowledge (as opposed to Ferrari). I just didn’t know if something was inherently bizarre or wrong with this set up and was curious. I certainly don’t care at all what other ‘think’, I was just looking for some facts and knowledge. Thank you.

People here are very opinionated towards their own spec. Do yourself a favor and ignore wear the internet tells you and do your own thing. Your car looks awesome! Don’t worry about selling it while you enjoy it.

Hi F8T and 911T,
I'm a fellow Racing Yellow T owner, and I think that is a very desirable spec. The reason you don't see many T's spec'ed similarly to yours is probably simply cost. The AeroKit in gloss black was an almost $9000 option, and the glass sunroof was another $4000. The T was marketed as the (relatively) affordable enthusiast special, and as such most T buyers were somewhat price sensitive compared to the typical 911 buyer. I know that when I built, mine I was trying to keep the MSRP under $140K, and a lot of the other T owners I talked to had similar budgets. Hard to hit such a budget if you're adding a $9K AeroKit and $4K sunroof. I'm guessing the AeroKit is a lot more common at the GTS trim level.
Finally, to help you out with navigating the forum - you are in the right place. This is the forum for the 992 generation (aka 8th generation) 911 Carreras. It excludes the GT cars (GT3, GT3 RS) and Turbo cars (Turbo, Turbo S). Confusingly, though the Carreras of the 992 generation are turbocharged, the 911 Turbo and Turbo S are the only ones that are referred to as Turbos.

If there was 1 regret with my 1st 911 in 2006 it was that I caved to family pressure (my wife), and got a subdued color (Atlas Grey). Love the color, but I wanted Speed Yellow.
So what do I do? I got a GT3 in Acid Green a few years ago. No way do I want boring colors (Grey, silver, white, black etc). If I buy another 911 in the future it will be some variation of Miami Blue.
Also, I like the Aerokit, but it is a little expensive for aestetics, with minimal function. But hey, so is PTS.
