I got the entire rear fender done, that runs along the smooth painted surface above the side skirts, and along the side of the roof down to the A-pillar. It’s a single Xpel piece. The factory piece was removed.

Thanks. That is what is being recommended to me also.
I have the TLG flaps on front/rear and also the GT# side skirts. I don't have any chips yet in the 2.9k miles I've put on the car.
no wrap or coating? I also want more feedback on these guards. I’ll be installing them for sure but wanted to know how effective they really are and if a full qtr panel wrap is still necessary

this is the right way to get it done and definitely didn’t cost $200 like some have mentioned
30k miles no aftermarket ppf. One small chip in yellow. Its really the lower part, circled in black, that takes the brunt. The shark fin ends just before the flat part of the wheel arch. That area has scuffs. As does the rocker in bumpy paint.
I don't notice getting in the car, nor when driving, so it doesn't bother me. I am thinking about getting a black extended shark fins with a strip along the rocker to ground the fin. Like how the older air cooled look. GT3 skirts on order.
This is why you remove the factory fin and at least do an extended piece. That rash is no bueno. Also be careful with non oem flaps rubbing the front fender paint.

I have full car PPF, and drove down a gravel road last year, and the hips looked sand blasted, so I had the PPF replaced. when they replaced it, they added a second smaller piece to the hips so that it can tear off without having to redo the entire piece that goes up onto the roof.

This is the way. Why would you do you the whole side in one piece? It's inevitable it has to get replaced and you're just making it vastly more expensive for when it does.
