Default Anyone had experience plugging Goodyear Eagles F1 tire?

My 992 came with this Goodyear Eagles F1 tires. The rear one now has a screw in it and slowly leaking.

I read from other forums saying this tire is not plugable due to the foam barrier. Anyone tried the diy plug kit? Or I should seek professional tire shop?

I have no direct experience with this particular tyre (although mine has it on the car currently enroute). If you haven't used the liquid tyre sealant you typically get in cars, I'd recommend using a Mushroom Plug instead of a strip.
I've used them in the past, including one on a tyre on a track day in a F87 M2 (certainly dependent on the size of the puncture).
This is similar to what I've used in the past.

I have good years on my Gt3 with less than 1000 miles. I picked up a nail in the center third of the tread.
I used a safety seal plug, which is really what you want to use if you’re gonna plug it.
I’m at 7300 miles right now and I’m going to need new tires no problem with the plug after the last two years and 6000 miles
I’ve never used the mushroom plugs although they look interesting?

The mushroom plugs are super simple, no glue required typically. You 'inject' the mushroom plug using a gun or a tool (depending what you buy). It them forms a seal from the inside of the tyre.

I had a plug placed on mine. It held up well for a few thousand miles. They basically told me it’s ok as long as you aren’t tracking it.

Curious what this foam barrier is, my new car waiting at Emden has Goodyears. Is this like the tesla tires with a price of foam inside the tire?

No worries - their Sound Comfort Tech isn't available in 911 sizes (wish it was...)!

IIRC - The goodyear super sports do not have the foam liner thing (only the ones which say soundcomfort technology.

This is similar to Pirelli using foam to keep the road noise down (their sports tires do come with foam in them).

Plugged a tire (Goodyear Eagle F1) on my 911, held perfectly after several track days, as well as +180mph speed (yes yes, I know the Eagle F1 is not a great track tire, but since I got them with the car I wanted to use them before putting something more adequate like a Michelin Sport Cup 2).
If not comfortable plugging, change it, however then you need to also take into consideration the different wear level so might end up changing both on the respective axle.

Sounds like Goodyears on the 911 don’t have the foam insulation, but I had a Range Rover with it and patching was possible.

If you carry a kit to do your own plug, be sure to include a pair of pliers or vice-grips…can be tough to get a screw out of a tire.

No foam lining on the Goodyear F1 tires. They can be patched and Goodyear is OK with what is called a "Compound Patch."
