Default 992 gts 2022

Hello,

I am new to this forum as well as to Porsche 911. I had the opportunity to rent a Porsche 911 Carrera 4s in Germany and was able to drive 300+. It was a dream of mine and happy to say that the car was extremely capable. There is a 911 GTS that’s available in my area and I’m thinking about buying it. It’s 992 generation.. decent amount of miles about 12,000. The window sticker says that the car was sold to Porsche experience. And the vehicle and Carfax is telling me that the car had an engine replaced. Is anyone familiar with something of this nature? It’s a CPO. Should I pull the trigger. Any suggestions on a price I should aim for. Should I worry about the reliability of the car? I imagine if Porsche was using the car for track then they were probably doing the upkeep on the car personally and keeping track of its capabilities throughout the lifetime of the car.

Absolutely pass on that car. Another member inquired about it recently.

This makes me want to do the Porsche Experience even more. They let you thrash the cars hard enough to need a new engine after 12k miles?! Fantastic!

Is that because of how much abuse the track cars probably get. I thought about the CPO program, but I am considering keeping the car longer. I also have my eye out for a 2022 4s. Since the pandemic, it has been hard to understand the proper price point for the cars. I wanted to know who would one go about doing Price research on a car. Lets say for example: 2022, 4s, Sunroof, 14 way seat, Sports Pkg, Premium PKG, 17K miles?

Appreciate the help.

They do.

You have to do it, it’s worth the price.

Which experience do you recommend?

Whatever you want. I'm a track novice and tried the gts 4.0 because I was interested in buying much. Didn't like it as much after driving and it was impossible to get an allocation so got a 911 instead.

I would pass on the car. A new engine at 12k miles is nuts. Heavily tracked cars tend to loosen up in all sorts of interesting ways.

I think that could be the right car in some circumstances: at the right price (at least 10% below market), with a very extended warranty included, for someone who intends to keep it forever (so resale isn't a concern). The car has certainly been abused, but the PEC/PTX facilities take excellent care of their fleet. It's most likely that motor had a latent manufacturing defect somewhere in the rotating assembly, which could happen to any car. A sufficiently detailed inspection and a nice long warranty are good for peace of mind still.

If that's you, proceed with care. If not, run.

Also, the ATL experience center's newer West track is the best one by far. Still no high speeds, but it's something like 18 corners in 1.5mi. Or if you're already a pretty competent driver and interested in a longer / more intense version, check out the Porsche Track Experience at Barber Motorsports Park.
