I am a life long Porsche fan and enthusiast. Not new to the brand at all. I understand the Dakar, and the inspiration, and the use case.
However, I have zero desire to own one. Not even remotely appealing to me as a purchase. If it was offered with a manual gearbox then maybe... But as is? No.

At MSRP, still a pretty silly price versus owning a 4S and a Macan, but would be cool AF!

I'd love to know what it would cost to take say a base 992 C2S and get it to true off-road spec in the fashion of the Dakar. Are we talking more than what a Dakar costs at MSRP, less, about the same? I'm sure someone has done some crazy mods to 911s to make it a reality without breaking the bank.

It was a fixed suspension lift vs the airlift that the dakar has. Prob pretty tough to replicate that...
Looks like his instagram was deleted. Elephant Racing did the setup

The Dakar is Porsche’s answer to Instagram fabulists. Guessing less than 1% of Dakars will ever see rain, let alone mud, spending most of their days ensconced in PPF and Ceramic coatings. The epitome of ‘too valuable to drive’, meh.
(to those of you that actually off-road in them, I salute 🫡 you and your wallet).

I couldnt imagine paying MSRP for one of these let alone over. Its just a 911 that will never be used for its "purpose" similar to the Huracan sterrato. Just an instagram car for "collectors" - read speculators.
