Default Porsche Connect Privacy Mode Malfunction

Out of curiosity more than anything else:
  • I checked the box (PCM V5.0) "Privacy Mode" in the "Set" menu of the PCM.
  • Doing this apparently de-linked my Porsche ID from the car.
  • So I went into the PCM to re-establish the link to my Porsche ID: Apps>Porsche Connect>Porsche ID>
  • The PCM then provides a screen to enter the 8 digit "Pairing Code" which I have, it's available via the App or the website, so I did this and selected the "OK" icon.
  • I then get a message that says I need to turn off the "Privacy Mode" in order to link to my Porsche ID.
  • So OK, I went back and unchecked the "Privacy Mode" box in the "Set" menu.
  • Then I returned to the Apps>Porsche Connect>Porsche ID and selected the add button. This once again brought up the screen to enter my 8 digit "Pairing Code" which I did.
  • I am still getting the message that says I need to turn off the "Privacy Mode" in order to link to my Porsche ID. But the Privacy Mode IS turned off, the screen text says it's turned off, and the box is NOT checked.
  • I've gone around and around with this and don't seem to be getting anywhere.

I've tried the following (several times each):
  • Resetting/Rebooting the PCM. No luck!
  • Exiting the car, locking the car, unlocking the car and then starting the car. No luck!
  • Checked the My Porsche App on my cell phone, Went to the My Porsche web site and made sure the "Privacy Mode" box in the PCM was still unchecked and it is. Every option available, on every access point available, that has anything to do with privacy, is selected such that I'm an open book. I'm allowing Porsche to see everything and anything their server might be programed to query. No Luck!

The App, the Web site and the PCM in the car all say I am not restricting or protecting my privacy anywhere or in any fashion . . . . BUT . . . . . when I try to add my Porsche ID I still get the message that says I need to turn off the "Privacy Mode" in order to link to my Porsche ID.

Has anyone else run into this? Is there a "fix" or does one have to: A.) Wait for Porsche to cycle their servers (whenever that is) and then B.) Hope that my PCM's current status gets queried by and then updated in Porsche's Server.

Anyone? Help?

It’s buggy! I’ve never had my car in privacy mode and often I’ll receive the same messages you’re receiving when I go to check on my car via the app. It’s intermittent and slightly annoying.

Similar issue, I gave up on it a while ago. Apple CarPlay works, which is all I really need.

I had a Porsche Connect issue. Called PCNA and spoke with a customer service rep. They put in a work ticket for me. Problem resolved in about 1-2 days. Might try it?

I had this very same issue. On my 992.1 using PCM 5. Even Porsche Connect service could not fix it using their remote connection. In the end, I discovered that my PCM 5 was a few versions behind in updates. Once I had the dealer bring me current with updates, the problem was resolved completely and everything works as it should.

I use the PCM and have not had issues with Privacy mode, though I haven't turned it off myself. Once one of the services was unchecked and that was causing a breakdown in my cellular connection.

There are multiple ways to turn services into Private so that may be the problem for you. Besides the Private Mode checkbox, also click into Private Mode for Selected Services item and verify every service there is checked (unchecked makes it private, confusing). If that doesn't solve it for you, here is what my Porsche Connect menu looks like and it might be one of the other top items.
