Default PPF Over Porsche Decals

Hi all - Have a 2023 Targa GTS CPO that had installed (at the dealer) what looks like the side decals used on a heritage model - I like the look, but the car doesn't have PPF on the doors just the hood - is it possible to ppf and keep the decals?

I don't see why not! Talk to a PPF installer

PPF over decals should be fine. I plan on doing it when my car arrives in a few weeks.

You can do ppf over decals. Only thing to keep in mind is there will be a small gap along the edge where the decal meets the paint, but a proper installation you will barely notice this without getting up close and looking for it. Those who dont want this gap elect to have the decals removed and new decals applied over the ppf. Both seem to be valid options.

I LOVE when my decals are under the film. Protects the decals and makes detailing the car much easier. That little air gap is basically invisible because it's 1) very small, and 2) perfectly symmetrical making it further invisible to the unsuspecting eye.

I've filmed over stripes on two Shelby mustangs, so whole car stripes. Looks great.

Those OEM Heritage decals are pretty thick, much more so than usual vinyl decals with model designation such as GT3RS or GT4RS, etc.

consequently, the air gap of putting ppf OVER the decal will be more pronounced, but as many have mentioned, not a huge detraction

it simply comes down to how OCD your are

I have PPF over my stripes. I worried about this. It came out looking amazing. It adds a VERY subtle border effect and looks great.

PPF covered the decals.

My PPF installer wants to do the decals over the PPF so I have ordered without and will add after, she did say it can be done but would be noticeable

PPF definitely over decals to preserve original factory work. Time capsule it and you’ll get more money on the resale

If you are in love with number then ppf over the decals. If you are unsure then decals over fhe ppf. Do you love that number? It would cost you several hundred later if you change your mind to pull the ppf and remove the decal and then redo the ppf.

Also depends where you live. I'm at 7,000 foot elevation and my PPF installer said that uncovered decals begin to crack quickly with the intensity of our UV rays. My Porsche center stipe is covered and unless you look very closely, you'd never notice the film over the stipe.
