Goodyear the absolute best road tire on a 992
Ok! I have read all the adoring posts on michelin PS4S as well as on Cup2’s. But don’t you guys notice the car’s steering just feels more lively and responsive with goodyears? Either asymmetrics or the supersports? Does anyone agree? Anyone able to confirm or explain this?

I didn’t notice. I did notice substantially more tire spin/less ultimate grip with Goodyears. Due to them replacing tires (which had plenty of tread) as part of CPO’ing my car, i had the opportunity to drive Goodyears with just a few K miles on them back to back with PS4S. I was surprised at the difference in tire slip under hard acceleration. My car does have a M stage 2 tune, so I pretty frequently flirt with the traction limits in 1st and 2nd gear.

We have Michelins PS4S one 911, Goodyears on another from factory. Prefer the ride and feel of the Michelins but not a huge difference.
Cup2 is a different category and amazing (non 911 experience). Very sticky and responsive, but not something I would daily or run year round in wet weather.

Thank you for your honest responses! I guess it’s so personal an experience and a feel rather than which tire is better for grip or performance. On the track i have tried cup2 and pirelli corsa’s. Love the corsa for track so far but the Michelins are just a more joyful tire on the road for me. To be clear, I’m new to Porsche with this 992 CS2. Prior I’ve had Alfa’s and VW’s. All were more “playful” on the road than me Porsche but the Porsche is so fantastic on the track…

Quite the opposite for me. I recently swapped out my Carrera S wheels with factory p-zero's to oem rs spyder wheels with Goodyear F1's. I feel when driving hard or cornering hard they both perform well but when normal driving, certainly on the freeway, the Goodyears track the ruts in the road dramatically more making the car feel all over the place. I do plan is to swap out with PS4S once the tread gets down a bit more.

Coming from my 991.2 Carrera S that had new PS4S tires on it to my 992 with the Goodyears, I can say that I won't be buying Goodyears when the time to replace them comes. They track every rut in the road, substantially more than the Michelins did.

Just subjective so far, but I'm happy with the good years. Will eventually switch to the Michelin MP4S.

Factory P-Zero’s run well once warm, the Goodyear’s are unsure no matter the temperature from my experience.

If you like the Goodyears, keep buying and using them.
No need to drink the Michelin Kool-Aid like a lot of folks on Rennlist.

I agree the Goodyears tram line more. Also I read somewhere on the Turbo forum the contact patch on the 305 Michelins is even wider than the 315 Pirellis the 992 Turbos come with. That could be the case with the Goodyears too but I haven’t checked.

I like the Goodyears quite a bit. The Michelin's would pick up every stone and throw them at the car. Maybe the Michelin's have a stickier compound. Handling is great. I was bummed at first to get them but have been pleasantly surprised.

I wonder which would last longer. Seems if the Michelin are stickier then they wouldn't last as long, but there are other factors. Any experience?
