Default Extended Warranty and Maintenance cost

I know this has been covered many times before but costs and repair records change....does anyone know how much it is to buy the Porsche Extended Warranty and Extended Maintenance Packages (plus I think there is also wheel insurance)? Also, is there a discount you can negotiate? I plan to keep my 992 for a very long time and historically bought these packages for my prior cars and found them quite worth while given the cost of repair and maintenance.

I would not worry about the Extended warranty until you get close to the end of your Factory warranty and I have been quoted a Maintenance package for years 2 thru 4 and I could not sit down it hurt so much. The greed has gone too far so now I take to a shop that specializes in Porsches rather than the Dealer.

Hey @kocsis reach out and we can discuss your warranty options. Depending on mileage, there are cost of coverage savings available in being proactive in your start date. Fidelity extended warranty coverage and wheel and tire coverage are accepted at all Porsche dealerships in the US/Canada. Talk to you soon! tgibson@highline-autos.com or (855) 924-1333.

Agree. I just got some pricing yesterday from my dealer for the Maintenance package and it was over 4K for +3 years, which basically covers years 2, 3, and 4. It includes the major year(s) (spark plugs, belts). I also inquired about the cost of an oil change and was quoted $840. WTF?!
I remember asking in 2020 and was told $450 and thought that was ridiculous. What the F is happening???

At this point, there is no way, I'm taking my car to the dealer for anything but warranty work.

Realistically, what's the harm in taking the 911 to an independent mechanic who is familiar with the car? You'll save about 50% minimum on each maintenance schedule. They add up quite a bit over 10 years, which is the minimum amount of time I keep my cars in typical cases.

If more 911 owners do this, the dealer costs will become more "reasonable" over time. Capitalism and competition at work.

taking a car in for routine service is such a waste. for $100 in parts and a 6 pack i can change the oil at home.

or i could drive 45 minutes to the mechanic, get a 30 minute ride to the office, get another 30 minute ride back to the mechanic. wait 30 minutes for the car to come out becuase it's not ready. then drive 45 minutes back home. spend $800 for the opportunity. free coffee and a sanck i guess balances it all out.

At least in my experience, its very hard to find good independent mechanics for cars like this - not to mention ones close to home. Maybe its different in states like California and Florida.

My Indy just did a level 1 service on my and a brake flush for $600 on my 996 so there is money to be saved, but you just have to make sure they are a Porsche specialist, as they just know the cars better, i think it bears saying, if your paying over 100K for a 992, why scrimp on service once a year, and i bet you the insurance carried by a Porsche dealer is much higher than an Indy. So there is that to consider if you get damage and or a bad repair.

I just did my 2nd year service at Porsche Dublin, and it was $995+tax but they also sent me a $50 off coupon to use.

“At least in my experience, its very hard to find good independent mechanics for cars like this”

That’s the FUD Porsche would like you to believe so you pay extortionate pricing.

Please know this: for meat and potatoes oil, filter, fluids, plugs, brakes etc, *any* competent mechanic is more than capable of servicing a 992. These cars are trivial to work on for the basics, like any other VW product. In fact that’s part of the service game: overcharge for common simple operations to fatten the bottom line. Please take the time to find a reputable ‘foreign’ independent and reap the benefits of the relationship rather than just a ‘transaction.

Isn’t the second year just another oil change?

It was oil and filter, brake fluid flush, odor and pollen filter/cabin filter.

Well where are these independents? You would think the regional Porsche clubs would have them lined up with referrals and reviews and running ads to steer owners to them.
