Default Ventilated Seats & Heated Steering(992)

I see a lot of folks out there saying they love the Ventilated Sports Plus Seats in the 992 Carrera/S and was wondering if it is really worth the extra ~$900? Living in the Northeast and having owned cars without ventilation and have had no issues, what could I possibly be missing? Can't imagine it drastically hurting the resale value (not looking to sell anytime soon). And what's with the heated steering wheel, are people really that dainty that they cant just wear gloves when its cold rather than relying on gimmicky tech? Am I missing something? Would welcome the forums input.

I don't think you're missing anything, both are just nice comforts to have. I own a cab and have the top down into the 90s and down to the low 40s (if it ain't raining) so I like the heated seat and the warm steering wheel in the cold. I will say I don't find that I use the AC ventilation that much as the fan can be a little loud and the unit makes the seat a little firmer (apparently; I haven't sat in a 14-way without it so I can't say). So if I were to do it again, I'd probably skip the ventilated seat but get the heated steering wheel. Which, btw, has to be the leather GT--so much better more substantial than regular wheel.

Just my $.02.

I have both in mine. But, since the car is parked in the garage, the steering wheel really never gets too cold in the wintry morning. Plus, summer drives are not that long so the seats don't get too hot. However, I still like the options.

one of the packages it throws it in there, I would have not taken them as it makes the seat harder, But it cost more to piece out the same options.

I have a cab and often just use the ventilated seats with the top down and the HVAC off. They are very strong and effective.

Agreed. I live in Texas and don't use it on my wife's X7. Built mine with premium package and so it included ventilated seats. But having said that my wife loves her ventilated seats, so to each his/her own.

I opted out of the ventilated seat because reviews I saw say that lack comfort because you are sitting on top of the membrane bladder. And I don't like the look of perforated leather. I survived for decades in cars without ventilated seats.

I live in the Northeast. First, I don't think it really hits resale, but that's an opinion.

For another opinion, I love the heated steering wheel, because I don't have to wear gloves! Plus, it is nice on those cool & raw days.

As for ventilation, I like it. I could live without it, but I do think it's much more effective than what I've experienced in my Lexus.
As someone said in another thread....

Porsche ventilated seats suck.
Lexus ventilated seats blow.

Both those statements are literally true in how they operate.

I would buy a car if it was missing them, but I wouldn’t order a car without them.

I could live without both but have them on mine. I use them fairly often as well.

Being in Florida I have the ventilated seats and mine work great, Medium is as high as I need them to cool my body. Maybe Porsche has fixed early gremlins that some talk about. 18 way sport seats in mine with 930 package. I also have the heated steering wheel but have not used it here in Florida. So for myself I would get the ventilated seats again but probably pass on the heated wheel.

My SA told me to order the ventilated seats as you get leather included that is better that than the racetex option (on my GTS)

I was skeptical, but they look, work, and feel great.

Total personal preference. We have a Lexus in the house with ventilated seats and they’re superb. So, when I moved from an M3 to an X5 for daily, I opted for them on the bmw. I quickly learned bmw ventilated seats are useless - they don’t really push cool air thru, but pull air out.

My 718 GTS had them (was a CPO) and they’re very good (almost Lexus good), and never found seats too hard. As such I selected cooled seats on 992. Would love to tell you how good they are but the cars running about 8 months late.

I have both and live in Minnesota with very cold, long winters and short but hot summers. I LOVE the heated steering wheel and would always order it. I use it 6 months out of the year. I LIKE the ventilated seats but they aren't a must have for me. They are quite nice in the summer especially when leaving the gym or other athletic activities and getting into a hot car. The Porsche seat coolers work very well. They are especially nice if you have a glass roof and dark interior. Personally I'd get both on every car unless I was going for sport-tex or race-tex.
