Any updates on this issue? I'm having my car wrapped right now but I hope Porsche addresses this issue timely.

Appeared to be centered in my 2024 GTS (build date - Dec 12, 2023) when I took it for a drive last Sat.

Update from my side:
- Reprogramming/software update in the shop did not improve anything.
- Inquiry with Porsche is still under way.
- Checked another brand new GT3 touring that they had on the sales floor and it showed the same issue.

I tend to agree there should be hope, but it remains puzzling that the latest software updates do not fix the issue. So I fear it may also linked to the hardware in some way.

What would really help us here is a report of somebody who actually had the issue and then managed to get it fixed...which I have not seen so far.

What would already help a bit, is to know if/how it is linked to different models. From what I saw at my dealer and in the threads above. Interestingly, we have one GTS with (ecmeydan, assuming Feb./Mar. 2024 built) and one without the problem (pal, apparently Dec. 2023 build).

Showing the issue:
1x 2024 992 Carrera T (above)
2x 2024 992 GT3 (mine and in shop)
1x 202X 992 Turbo S (in shop)
1x 2024 992 GTS (above), built Feb. 2024 (assuming, since "brand new" as of Mar. 2024)
1x 2024 992 XXX (above)

Not showing the issue:
1x 2024 992 Carrera (above)
1x 2020 992 Carrera (YouTube link)
1x 2024 992 GTS (above), built Dec. 2023
1x 2021 992 Targe (above) -- earlier hardware though

I’ll try and get this for you tonight. Don’t think I’ve see a setting menu in the cluster, so that’s something new for me to try as well.

a quick update: have sent the pics and details with the service advisor and she is checking for me. also, I got an update while driving not he free way that the "map I updated to latest version" I have no clue what got added so next time I will cycle the car on, will check if anything changed.

btw, am not gonna bother with getting it "fixed" in the shop. I dont use much of the map (use car play one) so I can wait it out.

You can add a '24 C2S build date Feb '24 to the problem list. software 100% up to date.

I recall seeing a video recently where a warning message appeared on the screen while the navigation map was being displayed.

The warning message (probably to activate wet mode) appeared in the digital gauge dial to the right of the rev counter. This circular dial superimposed itself over the map while displaying the message.

In this scenario, the navigation cursor was still visible on the screen to the right of the warning circle.

Therefore, perhaps the navigation cursor, by design, is always positioned to the right, so it is not hidden when the digital gauge circle appears automatically (to display an alert to the driver)?

The cursor should be centered and is in all the 992 I have seen. Must be a SW glitch. It’s correct in my 2022 that has the PCM 6.0 and the upgraded colored tile software.

However, here is a screenshot for a video of a 2021 Targa. Notice the cursor is centered properly, as you’d expect it to be.

To counteract my statement above, here is a screenshot from a video for a 2021 Turbo S, showing that the navigation cursor does get covered by the digital dial, when necessary.

Here is the full video if you are interested.

I hope it’s not by design. When the turn by turn is on, the right turns are practically off the screen. Not much value. Plus when gt steering it’s like totally worthless.

It cannot possibly be by design. Such bad design is entirely unimaginable. A map where you cannot see where you are is perfectly useless. Occlusion by the drive mode selector circle is no explanation in my mind, as its brief and you can choose to avoid it, e.g., when at a difficult turn.

Porsche might say it’s by design though, because it’s too costly to fix, but that’s a different story…

So, is there any 992 built after Feb. 2024 that does not have the problem?

Did anybody manage to get theirs fixed?

Thanks!

Here’s the fix: CarPlay with Waze. Worlds ahead of the factory nav… not even sure why manufacturers even bother with their proprietary systems. While we may wait months or years (or for my ‘21, apparently forever) for PCM updates, the phone apps are updated continuously. Combine that with Siri and the combination is unbeatable (I can’t remember the last time I used factory nav). Enjoy.

I agree with this.

That being said, I don’t know the technical reason, but no modern CarPlay equipped car I’ve owned integrates Apple Maps with the additional displays such as the one in the cluster on the 992, or the cluster and heads up display on my Supra. It is possible that manufacturers do this to differenriate the built in system from the phone nav, or Apple doesn’t give them to capability to use in additional displays, that tend to be a bit more custom to cars and probably would need finer grained APIs into the phone nav. There are days that I do enjoy seeing maps or colored turn by turn views on my secondary displays.
