Default Porsche doing GIAC tunes now

I got an email from my dealer that they now offer GIAC tunes for 911s. Wow. No mention of in warranty or not. I mean.. if these dont void the warranty, i imagine this will be a huge deal.

That is interesting to say the least, I haven't received an invite like this yet. $2200 installed for my T sounds like a smoking deal, esp if warranty remains intact.

I’ve seen dealers local to me offer APR but I haven’t seen the pricing. I’m holding out for the Ultralink to be released for the 992. I am running GIAC on my 2010 Audi S4. Over 100k tuned miles without an issue. Smooth as stock. I wouldn’t hesitate to go with GIAC products.

GIAC has been in the tuning game a *very* long time and certainly know what they are doing. Having said that, these tunes are pretty tame (which may be all that's required to sweeten things up for some), but +40hp is leaving a lot of 'safe' horsepower on the table IMHO. https://www.torrentmotorworks.com/sh...g-992-carrera/

Interesting S and GTS have different HP figures when most tuners have them equal when tuned due to identical turbos.

I had a GIAC tune on my 991.2T and it was great. I was told by my Indy shop that it was a lower power/tq tune to some of the others, and therefore deemed 'more safe'.

In my experience GIAC isn’t a marketing machine. They tend to rely on distributors like AWE to do that and show updated information about their software products. I imagine they are running the same boost and getting similar power to the other players regardless of what they advertise.

Whether your OEM warranty is honored is determined by Porsche A.G., not a local dealership (or even PCNA).

I’d buy this in a heartbeat if it didn’t affect warranty

This signifies a relationship to Porsche. Although the engines are the same between S/GTS perhaps Porsche felt the GTS is better equipped to handle the power (ie. brakes).

I've had a GIAC tune on my 991.2 TTS since I've owned it. Upgraded to their Stg. 2 shortly after purchase. Runs amazing and zero issues with it.

I even have the switchable box for the 100 octane tune as well.

In another tuning thread, someone made a great point: "Why wait to tune until your warranty is up?" In the remote chance you have an issue and the dealer won't warranty, you're out of of pocket, which is the same outcome as tuning *after* your warranty expires...

A stock 992 turbo S makes 560hp? Less than a regular turbo? Hmm

And why is the topic saying PORSCHE does tunes??

Porsche is not tuning your car. A third-party is tuning your car on behalf of the dealership. Your local dealership is not Porsche.

Didn’t this discussion happen a week ago in a big thread? I do not understand the obsession with people that think a dealership can sell a tune and it’s legit now. Some guys need to wake up from their slumber.

Yep, and it’s theoretically better to tune when the engine and components are fresh.

I suspect people are worried the engine will fail in a way that is unrelated to the tune but that Porsche will still pin it on the tune. This is the only logic I can think of to explain waiting until after the warranty.

I guess people aren’t always logical.

LOL, another "if I tune what happens to my warranty" thread. How many times have we discussed this now?

No matter what anybody says or promises, if your engine blows and you have a tune, Porsche WILL be looking to see if you tuned your car, and will almost CERTAINLY try to get out of paying for the repair. Consider yourself warned.

But if you do tune, have the mentality that I had when I tuned. I said "screw it, if my engine blows it blows, but I wanna go faster and I'm ready to pay the price for this decision".
