Asking for a Friend: Critique his Targa Build
Really, I already have a 22C2S that I am very happy with. This is for a good friend that scored a Targa build for summer delivery. His first 911. I've talked him through it but he does not believe everything I advise him so we agreed to put here and let the forum critique. https://configurator.porsche.com/porsche-code/PRS1UNA2

Lots of indications that this is a newbie build. Here are my thoughts.
- $182k and still the standard wheels? Go with the Carrera Exclusives
- No 911 needs PDCC
- Take the money that you save on PDCC and upgrade to the Burmester, because a $182k build deserves better than the Bose.
- Why carbon fiber for the window triangles and no carbon anywhere else? Ditch that. It's garish
- The thing is all black and murdered out. I would strongly consider keeping the Targa bar in Silver for that classic look. Dealer will want a real deposit on this one as "murdered out" is not a common Targa spec.
- The world has enough black 911s. Consider getting it in a real color.
- They're spending over $3k on nonsense to make it all monochrome. If they decide to go with a color, reconsider some of those options.
- If you can now get PCCBs on a Targa 4S, do it.
- Skip the locking wheel bolts. They don't stop anyone and just lead to potential frustration.

Suggestions:
Get the brushed aluminum inlays as it will brighten up the interior.
If you are into music, get the Burmester-much better than the Bose
Get the 18 way seats-looks and fits better
Get the Carrera Classic wheels-too much silver for your all black targa.

this configuration is sad…it looks like a vehicle for death beginner

Everyone on these threads recommends these stereo upgrades, which is fine if that's what you prefer. But the fact is that in every video review I have seen, sound tests (with the roof closed no less) indicate that at highway speed, this is an 80db car inside. And at that level, any stereo upgrade is going to be mostly drowned out, especially with regards to high fidelity music.
The seat really depends on your body type. The 18 way sport plus is a more articulated seat, more aggressive bolstering. It's fine if you are thin, but if you have any heft to your frame or have a broad back, its going to dig into you. The standard seat is better for that body type.

If it were me (having a black Targa myself.
1.) Go with Silver targa bar - brings out the wheel face and makes it less like a mono-chrome picture
2.) Locking Wheel bolts, you have 1 that is locking by standard - not sure why you would want all locking - as it is a pain.
3.) Odd doing the CF mirror triangles - you won't be able to see it on a black car TBH - kind of a waste to do CF on a dark black exterior - but if he likes CF, no problem.
4.) Rear Logo in High Gloss Black - skip and keep silver - will match wheels and targa bar (if you agree with point 1) - this is adding a bit more pop to a monochrome car.
5.)Same with model designation (though I prefer to opt for just the silver 911 rather than the full script which seems long when you see it live IMO).
6.) The Sports design Tail Pipes in Silver are really cool - kind of a 2 layer look black on the inner exhaust output and silver around it. - If you go with the silver stuff (targa bar, etc.) this is a really cool look and pulls out more color
7.) I agree with the breaks in HG black - I like that muted look without the red, and makes the wheels pop instead of the caliper. So I like that (even though I am suggesting less monochrome elsewhere).
8.) All else looks right to me... I also opted for PDCC and RAS for my targa, handles just like my 992 coupe did...

Makes my heart happy to see so many others share my disdain for the murdered out sports car look. That's a style that should have died out 10 years ago and never should have started to begin with on Porsche sports cars IMO. SUVs and Dodge Chargers can keep that look.
