I bet most of us could lose a few lbs off the waistline and gain better performance than the weight added by a Sunroof! And having done a number of track schools, you'd better be top 10% in lap times to even gain the weight differential...
I've ordered a Carrera T with Glass Sunroof as I want to enjoy the drive and don't want a convertible (not that its offered anyway on the T). I'll use my C8 Z06 for track which also has a removable roof and still slays lap times. Splitting hairs here...literally.

? metal all the way. Little Krytox and it's silent. I open almost every time (vent) I get in the car. My skin and sun do not mix so no glass for me but the metal is awesome. Without, the only way for some sound and fresh air (not thru vents) is windows down? No thanks,I'll take the few pounds.

I always spec my 911s with a glass sunroof. I think the black roof breaks up the monotony of a solid color car especially white or silver. In addition, it opens up the entire interior which can be a little claustrophobic without the sky visible. I don't usually open it but I always have the shade open so that I can see thru the roof. Resale value is better and easier to sell with a sunroof. It also means less buffing, claying, polishing, etc in an area where you have to reach up and over.

I agree. If you look at Porsche marketing material they almost always show the coup with a metal sunroof. In the lighter colours especially, a glass roof just doesn't look right.

All depends what personality you want car to have. They each have their advantages and drawbacks.
Slicktop clean and elegant hood for serious track/sporty build
Glass roof nice and airy but breaks lines up front
Regular roof is classic but not as fun as glass when you've had both
can't go wrong with any, just enjoy whatever you got

I’d prefer a sunroof. Get some of that Sunny D. Plus, it’s that much closer to going full topless.
Not worried about a few extra pounds savings. Like someone else said, just stop eating junk food and you’ll have your savings right there 😆

Seems like all my past cars have sunroofs and I never use them….some even had issues with leaks.
Based on that, I ordered the carbon fiber roof.

Haha...true but realistically if I was track orientated I'd be driving a GT3 or GT3RS. Instead I'll enjoy my open air, windows down, rocking to tunes and rowing gears Glass Sunroof.

I skipped a sunroof on my 911 and on my M2 - and I wish my GTI didn't have one cz I never use it (plus it leaks into the interior via the a-pillar and then I have to pay to get the drain cleared). When I want sunshine over my head, I ditch the roof entirely in my treasured, owned-since-new, '99 Miata.
