Nice of them to let you know before you went there. Very honorable.

Sorry to hear that. Did they take a deposit with an agreed price? I’ve had good luck with them most recently with my 2022 Boxster 25 purchase (used last year) for a pretty good price, good trade and an extra year of CPO. They were upfront that they could not get me an allocation for a new BGTS. But I’ve only dealt with one sales person there.

That’s exactly what I said yesterday to a Porsche “brand ambassador” who told me I could get a 911T, June build allocation, but only if I added a minimum of 20K of options.
He explicitly said that this wasn’t a dealer requirement but a Porsche manufacturer request. BS or not ?

Dealer told me yesterday I could get an S for MSRP if I get 25k in options. 2 other dealers want 10k adm for S.
He texted me: "The problem is Porsche I is giving alloction to dealers with good option content, send me your build and I will see what I can do."
I might just wait. Also wants me to get a $705 equipment package. I was optioning them out for 20k so it's not a big leap but I think I'll just wait. Things are definitely softening.

Not sure if BS, but you could spend 20k on options very easily and come out way ahead of this build and have a great car. This build is a waste of money. It's like options for the sake of options with no direction. The car is ruined to me. 20k of options is not unreasonable and in fact I think it's around the sweet spot.

does anyone have any further insights into this?
My guy tells me this is the dealership throwing PCNA under the bus for their greed.

I can’t say it’s BS, because Porsche’s profitability goes up for everyone the more options you select. During 2023, Porsche supposedly cranked out more GTS than S because options/total price was more, making them more profitable units.

The argument since the release of the 992 T was low options, all about purist. But now so many are spec’d in $140s to $150s range, to no help of the price increase.

Given that it's not an uncommon request from dealers with that specific $20K number, maybe there is some truth to it that the order comes down from PCNA. I would think there is fighting on all levels to get cars from Germany and boost margin numbers starting from the stores up to the regions and up to the national level.

The dealers I spoke to are allowing you to spec what you want but requiring $5-7k of add ons at sale. 2nd year maintenance, wheel tire, ppf, etc.

There's plenty shady about it. It's done to flip cars for ++ADM without PCNA cracking down on them, we have enough flippers out there without the dealers doing it also. "who us, we never charged $50k ADM! That was a used car."

Yeah. There's some 2024 used SC/gt3rs with < 100 miles driven for 525k around here. Total scam but people pay. More money than sense I guess.

agree 100%, the spirit of why they do this is to game the system to wring out profits and incentives that otherwise may not exist. It’s one of those situations where it can be done, but maybe it ought not to be.
