My car is lowered and I do not have FAL and I do not regret skipping it at all. Unless you have the sport design painted front lip, your S will come with a matte black plastic lip that is replaceble for $300. I've scraped my front lip many times on driveways and the bottom is pretty beat up, but you can't tell at all that there's anything wrong with it and even if I messed it up, it's a $300 DIY replacement part.
FAL is like 3500.00 ... that's like 10 replacements, and is 20lbs on the front suspension and it can break...
WRT to Extended range tank ... I got it... no issues... but there are folks who do/did have issues... and if you road trip you really don't need it. So also a risk issue and I would also skip if I did it over.

It's a must on a GT3.
I use it all the time. It's a no-brainer.

C4S Cabriolet with SPASM -10mm suspension. Sport design painted front lip. Have FAL and use it all the time. My home driveway, work driveway, bank, etc, etc. GPS saved memory on locations super cool.

But this is a personal question really. I have never had a car with FAL and every cool car I've owned has been lowered so I'm completely used to 35+ yrs of driving lowered cars and scraping front lips and not really caring. If you will freak out when your lip scrapes or you have a painted front lip, you may want to get the FAL.

I did not add FAL. I didn’t want the extra weight and complexity. Haven’t come across a situation where I could have used it until last weekend. I was exiting a parking lot and scraped the front lip. Nothing about the exit registered in my mind that I should leave on an angle to avoid scraping. I then thought about FAL and realized I would have been really pissed in that situation if I had it installed, because I would not have used it. I’m still glad I didn’t add it to my build.

Ive had it on both my GTS. Easy insurance. Really like the GPS feature on it this time around.
The other elephant in the room is my wife, who destroys cars, knows to use the feature and it makes her more cognizant of bumps and clearance. Gives me more peace of mind when she takes the car out

The weight penalty is negligible from what I’ve learned. GT cars have it, albeit more needed, but if it really was that impactful to performance it wouldn’t be on a GT3 RS. Quick add for me - don’t need it until you do - but all depends on where you drive.

My two cents. I have C2S with SPASM and need to use it all the time. Driveway lip is quite high. My son has a 991.1 with sport package and he almost always scraps on exit. I also have a lot of steep inclines just on regular roads in Pittsburgh.

This has been hammered to death. Can we ask folks to PLEASE use the SEARCH Tool before they post the same questions that have been answered time and again?
For those of us who have it it's because we see or foresee a need for it, if you're debating after checking the height of the front spoiler and the roads you drive normally, whether you should or not, then you probably don't.

Perhaps this YouTube video may help with deciding whether or not to get FAL…
