Second this. Just looked at the bumper plugs product... THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY BUCKS?!? They've got some ***** (and no shame!) charging that much for a couple pieces of plastic. That's wild.

I have used vinyl product and tint products in several applications on previous cars. These precut solutions are a great budget option for those that want to go that route. You could also remove and paint them black with a good spray paint from your local hardware store. Both pretty inexpensive solution. You will have to decide if that’s the solution and look you want.

If by a couple pieces of plastic you mean OEM Porsche reflector assemblies, painted in high quality automotive paint color matched to 40+ colors, including PTS options, it’s in the ballpark. I have had many parts painted aftermarket, and the costs might surprise you, if you haven’t had any of that type work done recently.

Another option is to have brake light and reflectors tinted. I prefer tinted or black for the reflector.

I’m assuming this will negate the reflection? Any safety concerns?

Only if you drive in the dark without your lights on.....

I don't see these small reflectors doing much of anything.

Well what about when the car is parked on the street and it’s late at night?
Wouldn’t these small lower lenses reflect back more light to oncoming vehicles than the main rear taillight ?

Who does that? The horror!

I would agree, yes, it does take away some reflectivity, however the minimal change wouldn't be enough for a motorist/person who was going to smack in to your car to make any difference at all.

Sort of deviates from the form follows function ethos

Exactly! I want to eliminate the function of the reflectors and let the visual result have the strongest priority!

If you are concern in this manner, you should never buy a Black or dark colored vehicle, your only color option are bright colors, like Racing Yellow or Carrera White! The exterior color of your car has more to do with night visibility than these small rear reflectors, low in the body.

Simple $20 dark vinyl PPF made the car much cleaner. Looks identical to the OEM matt black.

Link for the $20 dark vinyl PPF you used? Your selection matches really well to the black plastic.
other suggestions people have suggested are:
- Luxe Lightwrap at amazon
- Lami
n-x rearmarker covers
