I opened the driver side door with the tender connected; the axillary lights went on in the car and the clicking on the tender stopped. I shut the door, disconnected the tender, reconnected and the tender cycled to green within several minutes without any further unusual clicking. I am confused, but for now, it is working again. I am driving the Porsche to dinner tonight, I will see what happens when I get home and reconnect the tender. I have tenders on three other vehicles and this has never happened before.
Missing one important step-lock car. If you don't, the charger will go off in 30 minutes-that is what happened when I did not lock the car as the last step. Don't just turn ignition on and off must wait at least 1 minute.
Plug into footwell
turn on ignition and wait 1 minute or so then
plug charger into wall socket and make sure green lite in on
turn off accessories
Lock the car!!!!
This is what I do for my CTEK charger.
I never locked mine when I plugged it into the socket. It's been two days and the charger is still very much on. Now I am confused. Mine is a MY24

I just got my CTEK with the 12V adapter for the footwell...will try it this week. Did you do as others and run the cord through the bottom of the door?

I know this is a known problem when using the socket in the footwell for the tender. I am not using the socket and am connecting directly to the battery; it was working fine for over 3 months. The more I have thought about it, it must have been related to some accessory that was causing the relay "glitch", but why all of a sudden after so many months?
By the way, I had no problem reconnecting the tender after taking the car out to dinner last night; worked fine and this morning green light on! Hopefully this was just a one time "glitch".
Interesting thread. FWIW, I've used the 12v outlet method on a 2014 991.1 (centre console), 2020 992.1 (footwell), and a 2022 992.1 (footwell) without issue.

No. When I plug my car it's for extended period of time so I cover it. I ran the cord through the passenger window and then covered the car
Hello, So I know this topic has been debated extensively in this thread and several others. I may have missed it, but what's the downside to attaching negative eyelet to the battery and/or what's the downside to attaching it in to a ground? Haven't had a chance to open up my frunk yet, but for those with a trickle charger on a 2024 who used the ground method, would y'all mind posting a pic of which nut/bolt you used?
I believe the owners manual says attach at the battery but I didn't see enough thread there to attach a secondary nut on top, which means you have to loosen (not remove) the factory nut and use a spade style eyelet under it. To me it looked cleaner to attach to the ground on the firewall. The firewall nut is an M8x1.25 from what I saw, the battery is an M6x1.0

Just use a M10 stainless nut on top of the Negative Terminal stud. I had to tighten mine 1/2 turn so I could get 3 full threads, yet it works fine. No need to cut the eyelet.
See pic in post #51. I did the same on my 991.2 and 992.1.
I've posted this on a few different threads, but I use a Magcode power port. It has a spring cover and is only 'hot' when the magnetic plug is connected. The nice thing is that if you ever forget to unplug it, the magnet just pulls off and no damage.
Yes, an M6 takes a 10mm socket. The M8 is a 13mm. I will try again, I didn't see enough exposed threads on the ground post to catch it.
I had to tighten the nut on the ground post a little to expose another thread. Didn't need much, as it's not a structural item, just has to be firm to hold the eyelet in good contact.
I can take a picture of mine tomorrow if you need.

Are you doing anything when you plug in the trickle charger into the socket? When I plug it in with the car off, the charger doesn’t turn on. When I cycle on the acc position the charger starts to work but when I went back and checked again later, my charger was off again.
Anyone have any tips? This is on a 2024 Turbo S Cab.
