Dealers love European Delivery as it doesn't count against their allocation numbers (they sell an extra car) and earns them extra points with Porsche. I just learned this recently as we are considering doing ED for new Cayenne S eHybrid.

Yep, it used to be free so a lot of people took this option as a hack/workaround but then they shut it down due to too much demand and work on one of the plants if I recall correctly.

thanks for your help
My dealer had a waiting list for the Carrera S. I'm currently and happily enjoying my Carrera which had no wait list. I would definitely ask your dealer which models they have with the least wait time.

The key is the Options/Total Cost Ratio. See thread below.

How to get a 911 Allocation Sooner....

So let your Dealer know your build configuration, and keep the Options/Total Cost Ratio above 20% if you want an allocation sooner.
Thank you for that link. Good to know as it makes total sense.

Our experience…

$5K deposit and the model matters. Given high demand and limited production, the dealer can tell you how many ahead of you for their dealer for that model. I.E. waiting on a factory allocation.

We ordered two cars at around the same time about 2 years ago. Initially 911 Targa 4S and a Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo. Both estimated allocations were 1-1/2 to 2 years out.

Targa 4S there was no movement on the list, we were #3 for most of the wait. Very limited production. Received our allocation a few months ago, with production starting next week, delivery Feb 2024. Total time from deposit to delivery, about 2 years.

Similar experience for the Cross Turismo, initially #5 on the list then after a year #3. Then this year my wife and boys rented me a 911 base model for Father’s Day. That changed everything for me and I changed my deposit to a 911 C4S Cabriolet.

When I made the change I was expecting to wait a long time again, but the C4S Cabriolet I was #1 on the list. Better allocations coming through for this model. Received my production slot in July, build September, and just delivered yesterday.

Having a history with a salesperson helps, I got a T allocation within a month of request at a discount and delivery in 6 months.

My history:
991.2 Targa4, traded for
991.2Targa GTS,, traded for
718 GT4 and Macan S
718GT4 traded for McLaren 600LT Spider
Macan S traded for Taycan 4S
992 Carrera T Allocation and delivery

So thats 7 cars over the last 5 years.

My sales guy also deals with a good friend of mine who bought a 991 Speedster, 991 Turbo S Cab, 991 GT3RS, 991 GT2RS, 992 S, and a 992 Targa GTS and McLaren GT.

Getting to the top of a list, this is your competition, and this isn't even counting the Supercar owners.
