My Goldilocks 911
I bought the Taycan thinking that it would be the perfect compromise between fast/sporty feeling/looking and practical daily driving. And under those considerations it really was. The Taycan is hands done the most fun EV and Porsche did a great job keeping that Porsche DNA in an engineless car. That being said… it was too “momma bear” for me. It just didn’t have the soul that a true sports car should have. And that’s really what I couldn’t get over. So after a few short months it was traded back in for the car that’s “JUUUUUSSSST RIGHT!”
My new 992 911 Carrera 4 GTS. I had previously driven a C2GTS at the Porsche 2-day track school and I had a great time pushing it to the (my) limits. When I decided to make the transition back to a 911 I thought that the GTS trim would be the perfect compromise between performance and practicality. I found an almost exact spec to my TTS that I had built so I thought it was fate and pulled the trigger on the GTS. I’m really hoping that this one sticks. I have a good feeling that it will (and also my wife has forbid me from trading cars ever again )
Needless to say I’m thrilled to be back in the 911 club and I’m very excited to put many miles on this bad boy!
I must say… I’ve learned a lot over the last year. I’ve had the fortune of being able to drive some of the best machines ever made. I’ve wasted a little bit of money… I’ve spent way too much time trying to find the “perfect” car when in reality nothing is perfect. Clearly I love the color chalk lol. But it’s been a fun ride (pun intended) and now I have a new-found appreciation for what I have now with this GTS and that alone is priceless!

Yes I'm the guy, but the TTS deprived you of what the GTS could offer, and the Taycan, completely, and so I say missed opportunity when going back into a 992 not to correct the one thing you should, getting a 7MT instead of a PDK in the one car in three you bought that could have given you that ride. That aside, enjoy.

I also went from a TTS (991.2 with only 9800 miles) to a 2024 GTS (C2) and absolutely love it! These cars are all WAY TOO FAST! Giving up just a little speed hasn’t hurt my feelings at all. I hope your’s sticks. I’m going to enjoy mine until I can get a 992.2 Targa 4 GTS.

Nice journey if one can make it. Thanks for sharing.
I was initially waiting on a C4GTS allocation and switched to a C2GTS as I like feeling the rear stepping out on aggressive acceleration. Interestingly, once I switched, my wait went from 24 months to 15 months. Also, mine will never see snow. What was your thinking? I too went manual as that is a sports car to me. To each their own, but I am curious to know your reasoning.

overall they feel more alike than different. Obviously the TTS has way more torque and that instant speed isn’t comparable. But the GTS feels lighter and stiffer. It’s louder also. They’re both great cars and share more similarities than differences. I’m lucky to have had the experience of enjoying both.

I plan on daily driving through the winter months. I’m currently hunting for a set of winter wheels. So I wanted to stick with AWD. Although I’d love to also have another car in manual I was happy to have PDK in this one. The great part is regardless of the combination they’re all fantastic cars!
I am interested in what Winter wheels you go with for the Center locks. I too have Center locks and contemplating not storing and driving it in the Winter, weather permitting
