Default wheel size on 992 base

Thinking about stepping up to 20/21" RS instead of 19/20" base wheels. Any thoughts on why this might be a problem (or not)?

No problems. It's a very common option for the base. I did it on mine.

Problem: Cost more

Not a problem: Look better

Ride will be firmer with less sidewall of the 20/21s, if that is of concern.

It's not like the 19/20s have much more sidewall. Owned both. IMHO, the difference is negligible.

Subjective of course, but I think the car looks better with the 20/21 set up. Ride quality was not an issue whatsoever with my C2 with the Carrera Classics with comfort pressure. Not sure why you would think there would be a problem...

Thanks for the advice/information. I just placed my order for a 2024 GR 992 "base" with RS wheels.

I bent 2 wheels on a my BMW (damn run flats) so I stayed with the stock base wheels to hopefully get a little more cushion over the larger wheels. After taking delivery I was disappointed with the wheel well gap and considered moving to bigger wheels, but after putting on the KW HAS kit I'm happy with the look and the real or perceived extra cushion the higher profile tires provides. It's not like 19/20" are small, and anything beyond 20/21" on a 911 start to look cartoonish IMHO.

upsizing wheels does nothing for wheel gap FYI, that's a suspension issue.

I got the 20/21s on my Base, been happy with them. I normally prefer smaller wheels and tires for comfort, you wouldn't be wrong to spec the 19/20s,, but mine has been a decent ride comfort.

Correct, but I couldn't order SPASM on a base which would drop it down 10mm.

Not sure if you live where this matters but I would keep the 19/21's for winter tires and use the 20/21's for summer tires. This saves wear on both sets and gives you a backup in case a wheel is damaged to the point it needs to be repaired or replaced. Its no bother if you have the place and minimal tools to make the switch.

I have 19/20 for the winter and 20/21 Classics for my C4 and I like both! They both look good in a different kind of way. Sorry for not being more useful 😀
