Hey all, many years ago when I purchase an M car, I wish I had knowns about some of the inherent problems this model had before buying like; leaking valve cover gasket, leaking intercoolers, and the critical crank hub flaw which was the achilles heel of that engine. Seeing as I am now about to be a first time Porsche owner with the 992, I wonder If you all could shed some light on what some of the known problems-IF ANY-are with the 992. Im ordering a 2024 Carrera S. Thanks!
I would suggest you buy it and drive it. Don’t burden yourself with every known issue. That’s why you have a warranty. I lost the use of mine for 33 days because I thought I heard a rattle that I read about here on the forum. It will get fixed in the spring, but I should’ve just continue to drive it.
I don't really think there are any major known issues with the 992 platform as of yet. Other than some interior squeaks & rattles, my 22 992 Carrera has been trouble free.
Various and sundry rattles and harmonic buzzing of interior bits (mainly the door cards) seems to be the only consistent or common failure on the 992's that I'm aware of.
The 992 platform seems to be very reliable. I have two good friends that have had theirs now for 2 and 3 years with no issues other than routine service.
Batteries going flat seems the only consistent issue, plenty here about that. But the ‘solution’ is to use a battery tender, CTEK or similar. Other than that you have to say they built a solid car.

There is a characteristic of SOME 992's that drove me away from my last one. Clicking on decel. Drove me nuts. I left Porsche because it it. Not all of them appear to do it though. Hopefully yours doesn't. My first 992 didn't click. But my last one did.
Melting windshield molding. Just had mine replaced under warranty after 2 years. Fortunate for me as my windshield was trashed from track days at Auto Club Speedway.

i have owned several generation of 911s and they are all unique. i also have some friends that are big collectors so i have driven many different air cooled porsches over the years. the 992 is the best platform in my opinion.
mechanically, the 992 is sound if you follow the maintenance schedule . but the cabin can sound like a bag of bolts. if you can get past the cabin noises (that come and go) and you if want a fun daily driver you really cant go wrong with the 992.
