Default Is it PASM Sport Suspension worth it to add if I do not track car every weekend?

Hello all,

I am wondering if PASM Sport Suspension to Lowered 10 mm is worth it add if I do not plan to track 911 every weekend. I am just afraid it may make ride more harsh on regular road driving with holes as trade off. I can handle Tesla model 3 ride comfort but anything worst than tesla model 3 I am afraid my back won't like it.

Reconsider getting a 911

I would say test drive so that you can feel if it is something you can bear.

However, I can say that I live in NY with terrible roads and a bad back due to an accident and it is fine.
It is certainly harsher than my Merc and maybe on a long road trip it might become an issue but it is not as bad as some reviews or YouTube videos make it seem, specially in a normal 911 (gt cars are a different beast).

The lowered ride is something that is not as consequential as it seems either, but you do need to mind steep driveways and stuff like that.
For reference I have a 991.2 c2s cabrio with the manual seats which I find incredibly comfy.
Just avoid the potholes and really bad roads
Which you should be doing anyways

I chose not to spec SPASM because I wanted a more daily-driver friendly spec. I recommend people do not get SPASM if they aren't interested in a track-focused build. PASM is more than adequate for street driving.

Also your comment about needing the driving comfort of a mass-produced commuter car (tesla Model 3) makes me wonder if a 911 is the right choice for you. Even the most comfortable-spec 911 is more compromised than the most aggressive-spec Tesla sedan.

Look at a Mercedes SL or Lexus LC. I have a lot of friends that think even regular PASM suspension is too stiff and didn’t even consider a 911.

That said. My SPASM rides better than a Model Y Performance we test drove.

Going to get half the folks saying get it and half saying don’t get it. Just pass on it and save money or option to remove it on the GTS. Not sure what car you’re considering.

I ordered a base Carrera 4 without lowering the car and stuck with the smaller tires as well. I will use the car as a daily and comfort during everyday use beat the additional sportiness for my use case. I have four women in my household and they need to enjoy being in the car as well.

If you're tracking every weekend no street 911 is the right choice. If you're doing 8-10 days a year sure the sport PASM might be nice, but surely not critical.

I daily my GTS on crap Montreal roads. It does move around a lot but not enough to annoy me. But on road trip and smooth roads perfectly comfortable.

I ordered my first 992s with the lowered suspension, then my new one with the standard suspension and no doubt the ride is better with the standard suspension. The difference in the ride height is very difficult for me to see. I am in my mid 60's and wanted the smoothest ride for the street. I have not had the car on the track yet, but I am sure that this car will be fine on the track just as it is for my abilities.

You need the S PASAM. Anything softer it may feel like a normal car.

Sport PASM is usable in the street. Get it, if you can tolerated the slightly lower ground clearance.

Sounds like you need more of a luxury GT (Mercedes/Aston/Jag etc). I have a 992 GTS w sport pasm and the suspension in normal mode feels very compliant to me for a sports car. Its all relative, and the 911 has become a better GT over the years, but it still remain more of a sports car vs other luxury GT cars.

Only by testing yourself can you determine as everyone has different tolerance levels. I think SPASM is much too soft for serious track work. With sport Chrono, putting it in normal mode makes it ride like a Lexus in my opinion; legit, it's soft and soaks up the bumps like a luxury sedan. That all said, my tolerance for ride stiffness is way above most peoples.

I’ll also add that SPASM in the stiff setting is still smooth on Florida roads. Like someone said above, regular mode on SPASM feels like a limo. It’s smoother than my Honda CRV. Now if your roads are littered in potholes then things will be different.
