I find it hard to believe anyone in the world is currently getting 12-15% off on a 911. At those discount levels Porsche is putting money on the hood, why would they do that when they could just shift allocations to markets where they can sell the cars without cash on the hood?

There is roughly 10% dealer markup on a 911. There may have been times in the past when the 911 was discounted more than 10%, but that meant that Porsche was subsidizing the sale or that the dealer had a car sitting around for a while that they needed to move. This is the similar situation with the SL currently, people are getting 30-40K off, this almost surely is subsidized partially by Mercedes with back end incentives to dealers which allows for the pricing below wholesale dealer pricing. Porsche has no reason to do this in any market at the moment, because there are multiple markets globally where they can move the cars with no discounting, and there are no major markets where 911s are sitting around on dealer lots for months.
And Porsche's margins are higher than anybody else's so you can do the math.
