I personally don't care what color my Porsche is, I bought it to drive, not admire. I'll pay for performance options, not paint. But hey, to each his own. However PTS + @ $ 32,000 before it was dropped is simply ludicrous.
So you value the driving experience. Some people value the looks and/or drive experience. Crazy concept!

Didn't they say the same thing about chalk? Chalk is like an all-time color among Macan, 911, Cayenne and Panamera. Can't keep it down.

I like shark blue on the GTS...if I order one it may be in SB!

Agreed re chalk. Out of the special colors for the 992 I cannot foresee Chalk nor Carmine going anywhere. One would suspect that we will know the 992.2 specifics sometime during Q1 2024?

2022 Boxster 25 - Paid MSRP

The trend line is not good. I just hope my wait for a 911 GTS allocation comes in at MSRP (no ADM).

Not the case in Europe and probably other continents also. I would also say that good customers might get up to 12-15% - not on limited production cars though including GT3 and GT3RS

Regarding PTS is seems aubergine is back after many years. It should be a nice alternative - for some - to amethyst and viola.

I find it hard to believe anyone in the world is currently getting 12-15% off on a 911. At those discount levels Porsche is putting money on the hood, why would they do that when they could just shift allocations to markets where they can sell the cars without cash on the hood?

Porsche has nothing to do with it, it is a dealer decision.

A dealer selling a car for less than wholesale cost to the dealer almost always involves incentives from the manufacturer. There is not 12-15% markup on these vehicles at the dealer level.

If you analyse this, it is the US market that is the exception. Tradionally any customer would get 5-10% on a luxury car purchase whether mercedes, bmw, jaguar, porsche, etc In Europe the dealers are still following this.

Another member posted in the “feb 8 week release of the 992.2” that he can get 8.5% now for a 992.1 gts in Italy.

Look what I am saying are actual facts from my experience and from other friends in various european countries. I can but I will not post sales orders or invoices of cars. The fact is you can easily get an 8-10% on a well optioned 911 and more if you have a good relationship with your dealer.

Does Mercedes discount the sl in the USA? For 10%? If not then I am sure there should be other brands that will discount a luxury sports car for at least 10%. Do you think these brands have more margin than Porsche?

Additionally: Didn’t porsche dealers in the US provide a 10% discount 5 years ago?

There is roughly 10% dealer markup on a 911. There may have been times in the past when the 911 was discounted more than 10%, but that meant that Porsche was subsidizing the sale or that the dealer had a car sitting around for a while that they needed to move. This is the similar situation with the SL currently, people are getting 30-40K off, this almost surely is subsidized partially by Mercedes with back end incentives to dealers which allows for the pricing below wholesale dealer pricing. Porsche has no reason to do this in any market at the moment, because there are multiple markets globally where they can move the cars with no discounting, and there are no major markets where 911s are sitting around on dealer lots for months.

Out of curiosity and then we can discuss more. And just to be clear the 10% markup is a 9% margin.

1) What is your source for the 10% markup on the 911?

2) What do you think is the markup on the 911 options?

3) What is the markup for cayenne, macan and taycan? Is it different?

Yea, I can't see that being a popular PTS Color..

@drcollie - I'm the exact opposite. I think I would be still driving my 2018 M3 if it wasn't white. But I was told they were no longer making them and I needed to take what I could find (a lie, a lie). Such a boring color (and it was the metallic, mineral white) and the lack of sunroof drove me crazy.

Mostly agree although Shark is no where as light as Miami. I generally am not in love with Shark Blue when it is in full sun, but I do like it when it shows its darker side, generally indoors or an overcast sky.
